Think his injury drop in form makes you forget just how bloody he good he has been through the season.

Remember a visiting fan vlogger calling him out as top drawer.

Until his dead leg he had been incredible.

Definitely a drop off over the run in, but a player Definitely capable of the step up.

He's been knackered for the past few weeks. Playing every game without a rest.

He started well yesterday but looked done after 60 minutes. But about 15 minutes later he got his second wind and had a great end to the game.

Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.

A wonderful signing considering the player and role he was replacing. Not sure anyone could have expected us to nail that post-Morsy brief so comprehensively.

I do worry about him not getting away with those sloppy touches on the ball so often in the Prem but that’s a problem for next year.

Dara played every game without a rest and played internationals. Be interested to see the differences between our defence and midfield in terms of distance covered and duels won.

When you consider how many times he actually touches the ball in 90 mins, it’s inevitable that there may be a stray pass here and there.
I believe that he was, over the course of the season, our most important and reliable
player.

I think the difference is the league he came from. He only played 29 games in Ligue 1 last season. He's played 46 for us in all competitions. Whereas Dara is used to the games coming thick and fast in England.

Plus he never got a chance to recover from the dead leg.

Minutes played this season...

1) Dara - 4,185'
2) Azor - 3,952'
3) Darnell - 3,525'

Bloke would have already been running on fumes, and then went into a schedule of 7 matches in 21 days with a dead leg.

Maybe a drop-off in his performance levels, but he set such a high bar earlier this season and showed so much character to help us through the final games, it's a well deserved award.

Clearly has been nursed through the last few games not fully fit. Noticed him being given some kind of tablets to take during the warm up yesterday.

I do just worry about his mobility in the premier league. Be interesting to see how he does, but for his first season in English football we really can't have asked for more.

Yeah that dead leg really rocked him and us. Fair play to him battling through it. First two thirds of the season he was top draw.

Just lucky it was only a minor injury. If we’d lost him for any length of time I don’t think we’d have got over the line - that’s how important he’s been for us.

Best overall signing in the past couple of years by some distance.

For me the most important player in the team missed 1 league game all season and we lost 3-0 at home to Charlton are only defeat at home dread to think where we would have finished if he had a long term injury

What he’s done is phenomenal considering he’s had to adjust to English football too. We’ve had plenty of UK players who’ve taken months to adjust. For him to just slot in and play almost twice the amount of football he’s used to, and be utterly reliable is quite something.

Edit - and he had that run of 16+ games (or whatever it was) protecting against his 10th yellow, so he’s played with intelligence too. Just superb.

He was good and was still good going forwards all game. But the other poster imo was right in that 2nd half defensively he was struggling and couldnt quite keep up imo. But thats not his fault hes worked so bloody hard.

Yep, and pretty much back to his best yesterday. Earlier in the season I nicknamed him " The Octopus " for his uncanny ability to just get a toe to a ball he had no right to get a toe too, just as if he'd sprouted an extra limb! Fully deseved accolade.

He was one of our standout players yesterday. But he looked completely done halfway through the second half. It's to his credit that he somehow managed to find that extra energy for the final 15 minutes where he was outstanding.

Agree, really hoping he can do it in the prem but fear he's half a yard of pace too short.

With less games next season though who knows, one thing is for sure he had a tough act to follow this season and did it brilliantly. McKenna clearly rates him as when he was 75% fit he was still being played.

In some respects he could be more valuable next season. If he was half the player with the ball as he is without it he would be some player and probably wouldn’t be here. We’ll inevitably have less of the ball next season and simply won’t be playing teams who set up how the majority of our opponents have this season.

His ability to read the game and win the ball back is incredible, and perhaps even more valuable next season. Just need those around him who can be a bit more creative.
