| Team / setup for United 17:40 - Aug 28 with 1871 views | NthQldITFC | Do we go to the (as yet untried) 3/5 at the back sacrificing one of our three support forwards: -----------------Emersonn--------------- ----Maeda--------------------Enciso---- ---------Lukic-----------Nunez*--------- Davis---------------------------Ouatarra ------Greaves---O'Shea---Diop------- -----------------Scherpen---------------- or do we say they're not playing well, under pressure at home, and go again with the more aggressive 4-2-3-1, try to get in front and silence OT / get the crowd to turn? -----------------Emersonn--------------- ---Maeda-------Enciso------Fatawu--- ---------Lukic-----------Nunez*--------- Davis--------------------------------------- ---------Greaves-----Diop-----O'Shea -----------------Scherpen---------------- | |

You'd imagine United will have addressed that this week though? If not, Fatawu could have a field day against Shaw.

You'd have thought so but they hadn't addressed it between the Milan friendly and game against Hull.

I think they will try but at home i think if we keep score 0-0 for a while i can see them getting frustrated and begin to lack concentration. I do feel fatawu v shaw is the important battle Plus keeping fernandes quiet. Made me laugh v hull how final 5 minutes the rule for utd seemed to be give the ball to fernando at every opportunity

Yes, I'd tend to agree, but was the Hull pressure more from set pieces, or open play too? Either way, I definitely favour a brave approach. Of course, the 5-2-2-1 can be very much that if your wing backs are well forward, but I think I'd stick to 4-2-3-1 essentially.

| Team / setup for United on 17:52 - Aug 28 with 1745 views | SheffordBlue | Wouldn't surprise me if we broadly see the same approach as McKenna. A base 4231 structure but with lots of variation of positioning and pressing dependent on the opponent - particularly of the 3 behind the attack. E.g You only have to drop the starting position of the RW/LW 10-15m and you've got a far more compact defensive set up with those attacking players able to support the RB/LB. Think there was far more variation in how McKenna set up than he was given credit for - it just didn't look different on a team sheet. | |

A fair bit from open play Funnily enough i think oshea could be useful if he plays on the right again. He likes a cross from deep and hull put a lot of these in and utd didnt like it

I think for the most stating the obvious , we’re gonna have to keep Bruno quiet but at the same time they’re gonna have to try and keep Enciso quiet. They’ll have their own worries I’m pretty sure of that

Oh yeah, probably Luis if fit. Much as Nunez has done himself a lot of favours in the first two games, I fancy Luis as the better bet.

Have we got Palacios paperwork done already? I thought it took up to a week to get International clearance.

I agree, more defensive steal for away games although Nunez has started well and put in some good tackles in the last couple of games.

| Team / setup for United on 07:48 - Aug 29 with 535 views | MK1 | I imagine GON with play a different system away from home. I would go with a 4-3-2-1. Scherpen. O'Shea, Diop, Graves, Davis. Ouattara, Lukic, Luis. (if fit) Enciso, Nunez. Emersonn Maeda for Luis (if he isn't fit and drop Nunez back) [Post edited 29 Aug 7:51]

Gary O’Neil in his press conference said we will see Pallacios feature at Old Trafford I am assuming as a sub

If everyone is fit as per last week no change and we can adopt the 342 or 4231 in any game state! Fatawu can tuck in as a RWB no problem, perhaps not his preferred. Im not sure Ouatarra is ready for a start at OT. The bigger queries for me are when is Florentino back for Nunez and does clarke start or finish.

Yes, good point, including the 'call it' bit - these numbers are always just a rough guide. You're probably right about Fatawu doing the RWB job too, with several weeks more familiarisation under his belt - definitely go with that on second thoughts. I think Maeda starts for his phenomenal work-rate, and instinct says Florentino is the better bet if fit to force frustration for Man U and their crowd, but Nunez has earned the right to start too. If it's a wing back on the right (and it needs a switched on defensive wing back) I'd bring O'Shea inside Diop for cover and organisation.
