He dealt with any aerial threat really well, was constantly organising the defence and wasn’t the one targeted by Isak. He probably is a class above our other CBs in fairness. |  |

Thought Diop was decent last night after a ropey start in the first 2 games. Covered Greaves well on a few occasions and aerially really strong. Mad how much he talks as well. It’s good to see some leadership qualities in him. Shame we don’t have a stronger partner next to him.
Thought it was a pretty limp performance on balance though. It’s all very well saying we were OK after being 2-0 down but a) you can’t give a team like that a 2 goal start, 2 really poor ones as well. And b) they sat in 3rd gear for 80 minutes and we didn’t really ask many questions of them. Davis got in some good areas but his final ball was poor. Maeda huffed and puffed without looking threatening, Fatawu really loose in possession for the most part. Enciso tried, but nothing really came off for him.
Palacios was a highlight though, certainly a player in there and looked tidy on the ball, happy to have it in tight areas.
It was always going to be a bit of a free hit, but we made life really easy for them. Real work starts now, next 10 games with the exception of Man City away are the sort we need to compete in, need to take points from. I think we’ll have a much better idea of where we’re at after 13 games or so than we do now, but I’m not unduly concerned. We’ve shown some promising signs, and not all games are Liverpool or United. Get 4 wins from the next 10 and we’ll be in a decent spot. |  | | |

Diop was poor I thought, but no worse than DOS or Greaves. In fact the entire back five were really poor in first fifteen minutes and then luckily Liverpool eased off. | | | |

This is the issue. Fans often see the players directly involved while not knowing what the coaches instructions are. Last night we all see Greaves turned inside out by a £125m striker, however what left Greaves exposed in the buildup, as that is what O’Neill will be considering. It’s a team game but so often individuals are criticised in isolation, sometimes rightly and sometimes wrongly. |  | | |

Ive agreed and disagreed with stuff you have posted recently. That's how a football forum should be really so I agree with dubtractor that you are way more balanced and your more wild emotional judgments/opinions are more reasoned nowadays.

I did wonder when watching the 2nd goal back, is that Greave's man to mark? people have said Isak targeted Greaves. but is that run more of targeting Diop as he knows Diops roaming forwards instead.. At the moment Isak shows frustration at not being put in originally, Diop is his closest Defender. | |

I thought Diop was decent too. And this is Phil McNulty of the BBC's ratings of the defence, including goalkeeper.
Kjell Scherpen: Desperately poor for Alexander Isak's early goal. Weak and meant Ipswich got off to the worst possible start. A couple of decent saves but the damage was done. 4
Dara O'Shea: Led from the front as always but Ipswich's defence struggled against the movement of Isak and the creation of Gakpo. He had a hard time. 5
Issa Diop: Towering figure always willing to indulge in the physical changes [sic] but this was a tough night after those two early Liverpool goals. 6
Jacob Greaves: Stern test against the inspired Cody Gakpo, showing the quality he will face in the Premier League. 5

Watched the game again this morning after being at Portman Road last night.
Plenty of positives, thought keeper was probably the worst performance, but kind of want us to stick with him and not go through the whole Muric scenario again.
Lukic got through a shed load of running and I was pleased to see the same watching again this morning and Palacios was brilliant, couple of unfortunate passes not quite ‘at it’ but he’ll sharpen up and we definitely have a Premier League quality pair in the middle.
Diop on second viewing was much better than I thought, Liverpool pulled our defence all over the place so we actually coped pretty well bar a kamikaze few minutes.
Enciso lost the ball an awful lot last night, but his passing was exceptional, not the best night for him but hey, this is still a Liverpool team that any result would have been an unexpected bonus.
Personally, felt a lot of comments on here were overreactions, without the emotions I think both goals could have been saved and we got undone by moments. We still look dangerous, that’s hugely positive for me.
Next 3 games, need to either draw all three or win one to stay on target of 1ppg av. |  | | |
