It is way too early for that but... I do worry that there's a dynamic specific to promoted teams where if you fall too far off it then the belief just goes. |  |

They'll be buoyed after scoring three at Fulham and Selhurst Park has a way of intimidating us into sitting back.
Hopefully GON gets it right defensively and at least gives us a chance for someone like Clarke to play on the break. Would bite your hand off for a 0-0 at this stage to get that points tally one higher before the break.

The problem with that argument being the number will rapidly fall as the season progresses (there are only 38 games). It is far better to have the points on the board early and not be playing catch-up with ever less leeway to do so.
While I strongly disagree with the policy of targeting certain matches and barely trying in others, to leave Selhurst Park with nothing would represent a valuable opportunity missed. |  |

You have to wonder where points will come from if you aren't looking for ones against Palace. Early days of course, and Palace may finish 8th for all I know. But it will be disappointing to get nowt in the next two, and all too reminiscent of two years ago when for me it was the games (albeit at home) against the same two opposition when I thought ah sh1te, we just can't compete properly in this league.
Sure, if we play well, compete well, and are unlucky it's a slightly different story... but back to point... then where will the points come from? Us being spawny?

I don't think any game at this stage is a must-win, especially at this stage and away from home. I'm interested in seeing signs that we're better organised and that we're harder to play against than the actual result. I'll be happy if I see that even if we lose.
Fulham at home is closer to a must-win, but still isn't a must-win. It's when teams down the bottom struggle to get results at home against other teams at the bottom that I start to worry about them. It puts a lot of pressure on them to pick up points elsewhere in harder games. | | | |

I honestly think this is one of the most naive things that is said on here, especially considering the league we are currently operating in.
Lets be honest, there isn't 105 points to play for, there are games that we simply aren't getting anything out of, no matter how hard we try/well we play.
Palace, with no disrespect to them because they are what we should aim to be, are a team where we can aim to take some points, and if we don't, that's a huge negative for us in terms of the seasons final points tally. | | | |

We are already 4 behind Hull but having lost 2 games that we mostly all expected to lose we don't want losing to become a habit and Palace is without doubt the easiest game to get something from although not easy still.
Equally I think staying out of the bottom 3 is important a couple of defeats would likely see drop down there.
We need a bit of momentum to give early belief if we are going to stay up. | |

I think when folk keep saying our season won’t be defined by playing Liverpool and Manchester United …. It probably means at some point we will have to pick points up from some teams. I’d say Palace is one of them. Whether it’s a must not lose however. For me it will be disappointing not to get something albeit not critical. | | | |
