Just seen that he’s announced his retirement from football. What a season that was!

Didn't realize he was that old. Is it injuries or lack of a new contract anywhere bringing on his retirement. Fondly remembered by all, I am sure.

On his Wikipedia page it says he only played one league game for Burnley after leaving us.

So many ups and downs as a professional footballer.

But yes, what a season …

Another Cook signing. Surprised he has retired as he'd be a pretty good hand (no pun intended) in League One/Two or even Scotland, even at 35. It's a shame he didn't take the further year we offered him here, rather than sit and watch what Burnley call football for two years.

Honestly, I regret not getting a shirt with his name on during that season for the collection. What a cult hero that man is and what a season that was in general.

Imagine he might regret that as he would possibly have had another opportunity or two here. Not so surprised about the retirement though as think he has a lot of interests outside football.

Comfortably the best ball playing keeper i've seen at Portman Road.

Loved him.

Immense for us that season.

He played that lovely "flat" ball with a little backspin out quite a few times that season. He could have played outfield I reckon, with passing and footwork like that.

For me he is a better keeper than anything we have now or since he left.

I seem to recall reading he started playing football in centre midfield?

I wish he had been the starting keeper from the beginning in our last PL campaign.

He may not have had the season he had in the championship but I’d have loved to see how he would have done.
