They splashed out on players this Summer too, can't imagine they are very happy at all with the results this season. edit: Obviously they scored after posting this..... [Post edited 4 Nov 21:17]

Their Disney world splurge has come a decade late to make much of an impact at that level at the speed they want. So many clubs with buying power now. Wrexham look extremely midtable.

Agreed. Although a lot of midtable fodder will be looking to get 8th and then steal a playoff win.

You’re a very lenient project manager, sitters. Although Fulham’s main stand took about three years to be fully open. New cobbold ribbon-cutting ceremony sometime in 2035?

Sounds like the owners are following the very American way of obscenely wealthy sports club owners getting cities to help pay for their fancy new stands/stadiums. Over to you Ipswich Borough Council!

I imagine in that respect it helps to be worse as a club. I assume Wrexham can say if you give us x amount we can really make a huge difference to the local economy by making this amazing thing we've never had. As we've always been so fantastic and are currently doing so well the owners can't really suggest it will bring untold rewards to the local area above and beyond what's already happened.
| Just turned on the wrexhan game on 08:26 - Nov 5 with 323 views | NBVJohn | They’ll be able to string out the sheer emotion of the build and the battle against adversity of mud, rain, unreliable supply chain and missing out on the playoffs across three TV seasons…. I can see it now, sometime around 2030; David Beckham cutting the ribbon whilst high fiving an emotional Rob, with the other bloke (who’s name I can’t remember) looking on through a video link from Los Angeles. The Landlord of the Turf is toasting the event with a pint of flat Madri as Phil Parkinson collects his P45. It’s a moment that’s just made for television. | | | |

In fairness they have used their wealth and celebrity to put the run down town of Wrexham in the map. They’ve brought a fair bit of football tourism into the town, directly help local businesses and charities.

I agree. I get why some fans want to have a crack at them and I suspect a lot of that is out of envy more than anything. But for Ipswich fans to have a crack I think is pretty hypocritical because our last 5-6 years have been the closest replica to Wrexham's journey of any other club in the land: - Club withering on the vine in a league or two below where they have spent most of their history: Check - Current owners not interested in investing in the club anymore: Check - Wealthy Americans take over the club: Check - Global celebrity fan helps to raise the profile overseas: Check - Initial optimism met with stark reality that there are big underlying issues that will only be solved by significant off the field investment: Check - Let the incumbent manager have a crack at turning things round but quickly realise they're not up to it: Check - Bring in a new manager and see an uptick in performance but still fall short of promotion: Check - Back to back promotions: Check (and in their case a third) - Accusations from teams around you that you've bought the promotion: Check (we certainly had it in League 1) - Then realisation that with all the huge investment there comes a natural level on what money can buy: Check The only real difference is they've had the Disney cameras following them. I would also say that Sunderland failed to capitalise on the Netflix documentary and instead it became a tragicomedy - whereas the whole Welcome to Wrexham series has been underpinned by huge optimism and positivity. I don't have a single issue with what they've done and what they're doing.

Good post. They've raised the profile of Wrexham from non existent to genuinely massive, especially across the pond. I work with a lot of Americans, if you asked them to name a handful of football clubs you would hear Wrexham mentioned A LOT. The world doesn't start and stop in US of course, but its really beneficial awareness, and while the traditionalist in me hates the Disneyfication of football, they're done a hell of a job. Also from a Wrexham Council perspective what else have you got? Might be a bit biased as a follower of football, but I can't think of anything else a relatively small town in North Wales has to its advantage that gets remotely close to Wrexham FC for its economic prospects. Might as well get behind your biggest bet.
