Colchester Garvan Loan Club Friday, 2nd Oct 2009 15:25
Colchester United are understood to be the club which midfielder Owen Garvan opted against joining on loan a fortnight ago, while Huddersfield United are also believed to be interested in the Republic of Ireland U21 skipper. Garvan is currently out of Roy Keane’s plans at Portman Road.
Last week, Keane revealed that Garvan had decided against a temporary switch to an unnamed club: “Owen had an opportunity last week, but he didn’t want to go and get some games.”
The U’s are said to be continuing their pursuit of the Dubliner, who hasn’t played for Town since the defeat at West Brom at the end of August.
Huddersfield are also believed to have showed interest in the 21-year-old, who recently expressed his determination to get back in Roy Keane’s plans.
Meanwhile, stand-in skipper Jon Walters has backed Keane to be a success with the Blues: “Without a shadow of doubt we have a manager who can take us places.
“Our training is first class and no one at the club wants to be in the position we now find ourselves.
“It is no reflection on where we want to be and look forward to being in the not too distant future.”

could not agree more, i am a fan of garvan and doubt keane for leaving him in the cold. especially with the inclusion of trotter instead of garvan and the signing of healy. However look on the bright side. the only way is up. (obviously considering we aint gunna get relegated.)

He'd be perfect for Colchester under Boothroyd; they bypass the midfield. An awful player- one of the worst to wear the shirt for a long time.

Garvan's the best footballer at the club. Should be in Keane's starting 11. Nevertheless, still a bit suprised he didn't take up the opportunity at Colchester, though - it being so local.

Talented player but I think he has lost his way lately. Still worth another chance at Town I'd say.

he is a big head and thinks he should start every game no matter what... thinks he is a steven gerrad, he needs to grow up, shut up and get on with playing football. his has let himself down and no wonder RK and the coaching team have not picked him.... loan might of done him good and open his eyes to the real world and how other clubs work.....

Lack of maturity not taking this move. Cant think of a good reason why he didnt go. Playing in the reserves will not help his chances.

Yep he's crap. Much better to have Trotters visionary football ( those killer passes are something to watch ). .......... Just in case you missed it, I'm being ironic.

I have been a visitor to the training facility on one occasion, we won a tour through local radio auction at Xmas, JM was in charge at the time although nearing the end. Owen Garvan, i recall asking Garath McAuley in the reception when they were looking through the squad sheet for the following nights match who they were playing... Me and my mate were shocked at this!, surely he'd know that?, or did he just not remember/or care?? Perhaps Keano has picked up on this laid back carefree approach and thought that the attitude wasnt there??

eireannach; Youre being sarcastic, not ironic.

Thats right Guys boost Garvans confidence, can't believe some people on here, I know he's had a few bad games but he's also had a lot of good 'uns. Try getting behind the players instead of stabbing them in the back!!!!!

This situation reminds me of the Joe Royle quote which Shane Supple related in his recent interview, along the lines of "Some of them think they're stars, and they're not even players". Names weren't mentioned, but we've had far too many young players in recent years (Haynes & Bowditch leap to mind) who have failed to live up to their early promise. Garvan should have swallowed his pride and knuckled down to a month of hard graft and regular football at League One level - drawing a tasty wage to have the occasional stroll in the reserves is unlikely to impress Keano. And for those of you badmouthing Trotter, he was our only midfielder who could hold his head up coming off the pitch against Newcastle, and had another solid game against Sheffield United. In our current predicament, I'd much rather have a hard-working midfielder who gets some tackles in and keeps possession with simple passes, than someone who doesn't work hard and goes missing far too often...

If Garvan can perform at his best he would be in our starting 11.

i live next to Garvan and spoke to him the other day about it, he said that the players think Keane is a wxxxker and no one wants to play for him. simple as that

Nick8 although they say most footballers aren't very bright, even Garvan wouldn't say that to just anybody even if you do as you say live next door, especially as he has said he wants to stay and fight for his place.

I think Garv should be given another chance him and Leadbitter in the centre would be an awesome pair
BrightBlue added 17:58 - Oct 2
If he had of gone on loan, he would of shown the commitment Roy is looking for from his players and at the same time gained some experience. Also, as someone else has pointed out, got an insight into how lucky he is to be employed by ITFC!
The_Realist_09 added 18:01 - Oct 2
Garvan should go out on loan. Would not fit into our midfield atm as trotter is better defensivly and leadbitter is better than him at going forward.
Lightningboy added 18:12 - Oct 2
He must be really playing crap (in Keane's eyes) if he's below Trotter in the pecking order. Can't believe we've got Trotter as almost 1st choice in midfield..just about sums the mess up..nothing personal Liam,i'm sure you've got a better attitude than Garvan but you're just nowhere near upto the job.

Gents, gents...sarcasm is a form of irony, therefore he was correct, although not precise.
Eireannach_gorm added 19:13 - Oct 2
If I was being sarcastic I would have said Trotter was a good midfielder.
