Keane-Wickham Row Claim Sunday, 31st Oct 2010 09:30
Town boss Roy Keane is claimed to have had a row with star striker Connor Wickham in a report in one of this morning’s tabloids.
According to a wholly unconvincing piece in the Mail on Sunday, Keane’s position as manager is in doubt because of the alleged bust-up, with the club set to choose which of the pair remains at Portman Road in January.
The report claims the row stems from Wickham’s annoyance at being left out of the Town side at times this season, although his omission has largely been due to ankle injuries and a resultant lack of fitness.
Wickham, rated at £10 million and watched by most of the big Premier League names this season, came off the bench during the second half of Town's victory over Millwall on Saturday. Previously those whose relationships with Keane have been strained, such as Jon Walters and Ben Thatcher, have not been involved with the first team squad.
On Friday an upbeat Keane stated that the club had no intention of selling Wickham in January: “We’ve not thought about that. We don’t want to be selling any of our players."
Town don't comment on such speculative stories, but TWTD understands that there is no truth in the claims.

Journalist's name is Joe Bernstein. Piers Morgan also mentions in his column that he's happy because Keane is facing the sack...

Fairly obviously a load of rubbish, however I'm sure it will be a big story in tomorrows Evening Star to try and stir up a bit of unrest. Its a pity that some fans will believe it

IF its true, I hope the club choose to keep Wickham in January

Cheers Dolly, just sent an email to Joe Bernstein so we'll see what comes back. Also read the Piers Morgan piece and all his other column attacks on Keane. I think anyone who works for the Mirror, the Sun, The News of the World and the Daily Mail and then questions another persons integrity in the public sphere is nothing short of laughable. Sadly, that will be Piers's last post as he's doing the decent thing and leaving England for the States. Now i'm praying Keane succeeds and we do well this season just to stick both fingers up at bottom feeders like Mr. Piers Morgan a self confessed sports fan but decidedly 'not a sports journalist'. A journalist none-the-less though who writes, 'from the viewpoint of a passionate fan.' A passionate fan sat supping Chateau Latour 1961 from the view in his cosy corporate box. Last time i noticed, 'Real' fans were paying their hard earned money to support an institution passed on to them by family members and clutching a luke warm cup of tea whilst munching on a pie to keep warm!

I`m sorry phil but why put this story on here !! If one of them or club come out with anything to do with this then fair enough, but don`t lower yourself into putting this on here when you have no facts about this story or do you ? your just as bad as them.

Agree with Stow Blue, if this club has is going to make the top 6 this season, it will be by playing Priskin and Scotland up front. Conner has an air of arrogrance and it will not be long before he is sent off, although only a young lad he has a awful lot to do before convincing me

tomorrows Daily Mail has an article about Messi joining town in the January transfer window as he has always been a lifelong Keane fan and fancies Dirty Girty the cleaner who works at Portman Road......, you heard it first here, and in that quality comic called the Mail :-)

take it with a large pinch of salt, i do agree with the comments about CW and his ''clumsiness'' i hope he dosnt get back into our area to defend, think he is as likely to give as many penalty's as score them .Must be a prime candidate for future ''Strictly'' after John Sargeant and Ann Widicombe...he brings back memories of the Boris Johnson tackle .!
