West Brom Recall Zuiverloon
West Brom Recall Zuiverloon
Wednesday, 29th Dec 2010 15:55

West Brom have recalled defender Gianni Zuiverloon early from his loan spell at Town as cover for injuries and suspensions at the Hawthorns. The Dutchman was due to remain at Portman Road until January 4th.

The former Heerenveen man’s early exit means that Town find them short of a recognised right-back with Jaime Peters, Tom Eastman or Troy Brown likely to fill in until the transfer window opens and manager Roy Keane is able to add to his squad.

West Brom's Chilean right-back Gonzalo Jara is suspended after reaching five bookings, while centre-half Gabriel Tamás faces a three-game ban for his red card in the 3-1 loss to Blackburn. Fellow central defender Jonas Olsson has an achilles injury.

Former Holland U21 international Zuiverloon, 23, made four appearances during his time with the Blues.

Shame, started to look good, still need a good attacking wing-back.

Hopefully Jamie Peters can step up to the plate, judging by his performance against West Brom in the Carling Cup, he looks ready.

Not really that bothered. Fed up with all the loanees. Gives Peters more of a chance. Still can't understand why RK let perfectly good, reliable right back David Wright go, but heyho, just another one of his odd decisions

I know there is a lot of anti Keane on here but the bloke has no luck at all. We have had more than our fair share of injuries to key players we have had some wretched refereeing decisions go against us (Yet that lot up the road seem to get everything thats going) and just when Zuiverloon starts to look good we lose him. Yes sometimes Keane makes his own troubles notably with team selection and tactics but lets hope Peters gets a chance as he was superb against WBA and hardly been seen since.

What a waste of time that loan was.

Peters has been ready since the start of the season, whenever he gets the chance he plays well and usually has a positive effect on the team!
Its criminal that Keane plays Browne/Eastman at RB ahead of Peters. With Norris now looking a genuine option at right midfield, Peters only real opportunity to start is RB!
Zuiverloon looked decent but I have every confidence in Jamie. He deserves a real chance in the team!

Yet more bad news for Roy and ITFC. As I said on another post, Roy must feel very hard done by! O'Conner injured and now a recognised right-back being recalled. I like this guy. I completely disagree with many others - Peters is under no circumstances a right-back (a decent impact player mind)! Goodness, so many mistakes! We need to sign a right-back and fast!

I would prefer to see Peters in midfield now that (if) Norris is playing wide.

Oh yeah, poor Roy, I mean he fought so hard to keep two recognized right backs in the summer, I'm a bit disappointed but it serves keane right. A shame the lazy git now has to use some managerial nous and find a natural right footed right back, I'm not holding my breath.

Partly bad luck, but Zuiverloon was only a short term emergency loan and we cannot rely on these sort of players. Perhaps this is good news if it focuses the club's mind on bringing in a permanent full-back. Keane said in the summer he was happy with his options and was not looking for a right-back, but recently I have heard him talk of "persevering" with Peters and Eastman. The situation is a joke now, we MUST bring in a proper right back. It is an important position on the pitch and while we go to great lengths to get cover in positions such as goalkeeper and central midfielder, right back has been neglected.

That's ruined my day. I received a Zuiverloon replica Town shirt for Xmas.

He was going back on Jan 4th antway, so I don't think thats to much to worry about really, just goes to prove my point, you can't build a team around loan signings, the sooner RK/SC/ME realise that & start signing quality players on permanent contracts the better off we'll be.

Peters is a stop gap and will probably play - rbut Keane seems to like bigger 'units' as full backs - Need to find a replacement quick - window is open so lets see who these 'targets' are - probably 4 forwards and a keeper !!- hopefully a new coach and tactician !!

Who would be stupid enough to get a Zuiverloon replica Town shirt for Xmas with his loan up in early January anyway?

Jaime Peters has done nothing wrong in the eyes of many supporters like myself yet he continues to be left on the bench he has shown what a fantastic player he is, is dependable and with the West Brom player going back deserves his chance more than Troy. KEANO LISTEN TO THE FANS PLEASE !!!
