Town Linked With Dutch Striker
Town Linked With Dutch Striker
Wednesday, 5th Jan 2011 22:56

Town, QPR, ADO Den Haag and unnamed Premier League sides are eyeing VVV Venlo striker Ruud Boymans, according to reports in Holland. The 21-year-old has scored nine league goals this season, more than half of his relegation-threatened club’s total of 17.

The 6ft 2in tall frontman was born in the appropriately named Dutch town of Born and started his career with local side VV Born as an amateur. He began his professional career with Fortuna Sittard, making his debut in the 2007/08 season.

After two years in the Eerste Divisie (second tier), scoring 12 league goals in 46 matches, Boymans moved on to top flight side Venlo in 2009, signing a three-year deal.

In his first season with his new club the strong, all-action centre forward scored four goals in 16 matches but this year he has pushed on and has netted nine times in 18 matches.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Roy Keane - sporting a flat cap - and first team coach Tony Loughlan were at Arsenal’s 0-0 draw with Manchester City at the Emirates, keeping an eye on next week’s Carling Cup semi-final opponents.

Elsewhere, former Town and Gunners striker Paul Mariner is set to be named the new general manager of MLS side Toronto FC on Thursday with ex-Dutch international Aron Winter joining as his head coach. Mariner left Plymouth Argyle at the end of last week.

What's the point of him buying a striker, he'll be off soon.

It's no way a critisicm of TWTD, but over the last year or so I've just switched off with regards to Transfer talk. Because for a start, this bloke isn't Irish, hasn't played for Sunderland and sounds like a half decent young striker, so why on earth would Keane be interested in him.

Turning over now to go back to sleep.

This chap sounds like the player we need... however do i think we have a chance of getting him... no. Would he turn out like the player we need to be scoring 15-25 goals per season... too much of a risk. Unfortunately i have completely lost hope and faith with our transfers but lets hope ME will let us splash some cash... oh wait we got Keane, prob spend it on some dog sh1te...

anyone for a cheeky punt on ronadinio? im sure roy can "make a few phone calls" and we can "all have a whip round" for his wages....

on a serious note, ive been saying this since the jim days. (and this is in football tactics for dummies) A STRIKER IS ONLY AS GOOD AS HIS SERVICE! at the moment, our team is much, much to square and one dimensional. flat back 4, a very straight line midfeild, its no wonder we cant score, our strikers are feeding off scraps! i think what keane has done is he has signed (and picks his team) with the players who he thinks have the most passion, grit and determination (which wears thin when resulkts dont go your way). what we havnt got at the mo is that spark to ignite it all. keanes in-experince is showing. he may have had a 2 year plan, but he didnt have a back up for when his plan all went wrong. sure players like norris leadbitter mcauly will put 100 percent into tackels, but with no final ball theres no end product (ill leave the debate open as to who should fill the slot)

bottom line- we need some passers and movers in our club, to strike a balance with the tough tackling players

Adamisablue- I see your point but we need to change our horrible style of play to what it used to be! This means changing manager, ultimate objective at the moment remove the footballing cancer that is Roy Keane from Portman road!

that was pretty much my point garv, we DO need to change our style of play. way, waaaayyy to flat. as mentioned in previous posts, the flat back 4 offers little/no support to a central midfeildeder on the left, an aging journeyman/central midfeilder on the right and 2 simalar players in the midle (as in simalar to each other) who offer little service to an ever rotating strike partnership. and your right, RK needs to go, all of the above was his doing.its plain for all to see whats going on, yet still no-one takes action! Mr evans, ok, ill accept that you are a business man. ill accept you have no emotional ties to the club (a'la sheepshanks and the cobbolds) ill even accept the fact you you want to stay in the shadows. BUT MAKE THE BUSINESS DESCISION AND GET CLEGG AND KEANE OUT BEFORE YOU ARE 20 MILLION DOWN AND OWN A CLUB IN LEAGUE 1 WITH MOUNTINS TO CLIMB BEFORE COMING BACK!

yeah i agreed adamisablue, we have the strike force of wickham, scotland, priskin and fallon and looking at those names i'd say they're decent and even potentially great at this level. Just the quality of ball is letting them down, we've seen the solo play of all of em esp scotland which 3/4 of his goals have really been from his solo skill, i only remember that one goal against leeds which livermore played him in but apart from tht it's all been solo for him... we need to work harder in the middle of park and like you said need to stop play 1 dimensional.

Honestly i agree it's not the strikers fault apart from scotlands 3-4 woeful misses in the past but the midfield is strong enough to deliver but the tactics and strategy does now allow them to... which therefore lies in fate on the manager, who's causing all of this trouble. BUT in defence for Keane (btw i am not a supporter of him) i don't blame him ONE BIT with some of the AWFUL defending tht's happened... a manager can only do so much untill it's the players fault, and i cam name a whole list of dreadful defending that's happened this year... but again when adding all this trouble on and off the pitch you can easily see what's the problem now... and i haven't been a Keane hater and i'm not to be honest as now i have complete loss in faith with him atm and really can't see him turning it around for us.

Sorry i am posting a bit off topic but just been unbanned so i must watch my foolish language!!
I think new signings are irrelevant at the moment, whats the chance that new players will upset the "idiot" one way or another and end up in the wilderness or out on loan! or we have got the playing out of position scenario or even better what if we finally sign a good footballer? he is not going to be able to adapt to long ball and fearful play (i dont know if the "idiot" thinks he is playing American Football?) sorry to sound so doom and gloom but ITFC is in serious trouble, our owner is the root cause, i have finally read up on wikipedia some information on ME and boy oh boy we are in trouble!!!!! to all those who think ME has cleared up the debt of this Club, You are gravely mistaken!!! he has underwritten the debt ONLY!! it is still with us all he has done has reborrowed under new terms/new company and settled the creditors nerves by garuanteeing he can make the repayments(ending fear of administration, FOR NOW)that might explain why we are really struggling to pay decent wages, but if you had "idiot" as a manger would you pay big money for his recomended signings?? ME main line of business is entertainment, business functions at sporting events etc he owns loads of companies and runs them in a very seedy manner (regarding tax) reminds me of a double glazing business man ! and to get into big sporting events and make money his companies are moving (very obviously) to gain a foot hold one way or another into the big global sporting events, this explains why Simon Clegg has been employed, if you want to infiltrate olympic 2012 events to gain influence and win olympic functions who better than Simon Clegg? Mr Olympics himself and this explains why ME bought ITFC, if you want to infiltrate and gain influence in FIFA (world Cup 2010) then what not better than to own a football Club, yes to all those who thinks ME loves Ipswich you are gravely mistaken!! it is a business venture that ME hopes will pay for itself and maybe gain influence in sport so his other ventures will make money!! When i heard that a BILLIONARE was buying ITFC i thought "YES" maybe another Chelsea, here we come but i could not have been further from the truth, he has invested some money (arguably 12 million) but i bet he was thinking Premiership in 2 years and then we get sky money, that would have paid back plus profit any investment plus it would cover all debt repayment, 2 years in the premiership ME would own this club nearly debt free and it would not have cost him a penny!!!!
HAHA along comes Roy Keane, cops a massive contract (ME thinks premiership here we come)and pays him handsomely, but what a MISTAKE for many reasons. Now ME plan is definately going to fail and it looks more like div 1 with less money than ever (declining gates etc) and we have not even got the money to get rid of the "Idiot" even though we are definately going down!!
So what next ME you have really done a "burton" here and you are gonna have to put yours hands in your pocket just to keep ITFC afloat let alone pay of the "IDIOT"

ps and remember ME assets are not in jepeordy here as he created a public ltd company to run ITFC, he could bankrupt that company tommorrow (legally) sending ITFC into administration with NO chance of paying back a deal that was struck on the basis of the "idiot" getting us promoted in 2 years(60 million a year) !!!!!!

Sounds very promising, the type of player that Roy Keane doesn't even seem to think about. What has happened to our overseas scouting network? I'd love to sign exciting young European players rather than continually relying on player Keane knows from his past. Keane has had his chance, new manager please!

Lunatic - Spot on ME and Clegg is all about 2012 ..No player will come to Ipswich under our management team - no creativity and no idea - I think we have the players but just have no clue when it comes to tactics - keane is very tiresome

Yawn...................Like we have a chance of getting him! QPR and a Premier club and we are sitting 19th?
Who in their right mind would want to come and play here when we have The faceless one, The invisable one & The clueless one at the helm?
Rotten to the core!

I can save you all a lot of time and worry. There won't be any additions to our squad this transfer window. Come back when Keanes contract is up or we are relegated.

Why would any player want to come to Ipswich and have their career ruined by a manager who cant even pick his nose and have their confidence destroyed into the bargain.......

well sounds ok striker but we will see and yes i doubt we will get him, and lunatic i had been thinking exactly the same just a venture, thats why he got keane how many champ maangers do you see on sky sports news not many except for alot of roy keane with ME sign behind his head, even if we do get rid prob end up with big sam rather than some one who can take us forward, and personally dont think mr houghton can because he has the same crendials as keane did before he came all be it he has been coach for years unlike keane so you never know.
