Swansea's Promotion Good News for Town
Swansea's Promotion Good News for Town
Tuesday, 31st May 2011 01:55

Swansea’s promotion to the Premier League via their 4-2 Wembley victory over Reading on Monday will see the Blues’ coffers swelled by more than £100,000 via a clause in Tamás Priskin’s loan deal.

The Hungarian international joined the Swans on loan until the end of the season in March and despite the 24-year-old picking up a knee injury which ruled him out of the play-offs, the Welsh club’s elevation to the top flight for the first time since 1983 has triggered a £160,000 payment to Town.

After Swansea had beaten the Blues towards the end of the season, Swans boss Brendan Rodgers said he had been pleased with Priskin’s performances and didn't rule out making his move a permanent one, however, their promotion probably makes this less likely.

Meanwhile, Town continue to be linked with a £1 million move for Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra as part of a summer cost-cutting exercise in the wake of the Bluebirds' failure to reach the Premier League.

Good News having that extra 100k... Not so good that Tamas wont have an easy move on the cards... Although i still feel he has potential, which unfortunately hasnt come through just yet lol.

I hope this constant linking with Chopra amounts to something one of these days!
Lets get a few signings in!!

This is by far the most Priskin has ever contributed to ITFC.

I don't just find the lack of goals [ sitters ] Priskin doesn't score that annoy me, its his disinterest and general laziness in most matches that gets my goat. I'm sure my goat would try a lot harder than he does, without Priskins paypacket ! Great shame, the ability is there, he just doesn't use it very often.

be much better news if they bought him!! Give them Scotland in a BOGOF deal...

I also was wondering if Pablo regrets any decisions he made................

Blue Badger - I can't remember who scored Town's goal when they beat Arsenal 1-0 at PR in January, can you though?

I think it'll make the move more likely as Swansea wouldn't have paid his wages in the long term in the championship.

That's the second 100k we have made

we must be saving a 100k in wages with the amount of players that have left
worried for next season as we had a small squard PJ said he needed 5 or6 players more like 9 or 10

Swansea won't be wanting Priskin on a permanant deal now, I should imagine they'll be setting their sights ever so slightly higher.
Good bit of business by the club though, well done Clegg.

100k! Don't go and spend it all at once!

Good news - but will we actually spend it? Can't see Tamas moving on this Summer. Swansea are unlikely to want him.

no real gain at all!

As we lose out on the same amount in compensation for Brown.

Nice wok Clegg!

Learn the rules!

Tamas Priskin in a 442 will be a useful player next season. A player up top on his own getting it pumped at him won't score that many in fact i cant think of one example.

But if we're 442 next season and Tamas is still here it's a good thing!

Priskin has scored 9 goals in 60 games

we could play 10 up front and Priskin still would not be the 20 a season man
how many did he get at Swansea and QPR and at Watford he had a poor record too
expencive player we do not really need sell cheap and use his 10 to 15k wages on a Sharpe or Maynard or MKS or as PJ said someone who will kick their granny to score

They have enough money to buy him and didn't Rodgers first bring Priskin to England to play in the Prem for Watford?

churchmans added 11:27 - May 31
sell him for 500k

Magee: So his goal against Arsenal didn't mean anything to you that night then? Because it was Priskin? Don't beleive you. Priskin had a bad first season, but the first half of last season before he was dropped by Keane, he was brilliant and did it all on his own without barely any support from midfield. He hasn't set the world alight but I'm just saying also, people who write on here that he never contributed anything positive to ITFC are being a little bit short sighted...

£100,000 ! That would pay Jimmy Bullard for two whole weeks!!

Another 56 deals like that and you can afford to buy out his contract!!!!

LOL!
