Blackburn Boss Confirms Bullard Interest
Blackburn Boss Confirms Bullard Interest
Tuesday, 23rd Aug 2011 21:08

Blackburn boss Steve Kean has confirmed his club’s interest in Town target Jimmy Bullard. The former Fulham assistant manager worked with Bullard when they were together at Craven Cottage.

Kean said: "I've probably been linked with Jimmy because I met him on Sunday when he was out with his boy and I had a chat with him and he was telling me about his troubles, and he could be available.

"I had Bully when I was with Chris Coleman at Fulham and he is a colourful character. But I don't know how his fitness is, whether he has done a full pre-season. But he is a quality player when he is on his game.

"It depends if we need somebody in that position, and if we have done our business and filled those slots, then it might not happen, but if we haven't, then you never know."

In addition to the Blues and Rovers, Wolves, Wigan, Norwich, Bolton, West Ham and QPR have all been linked since Hull announced their intention to terminate the midfielder’s contract in the wake of his alleged transgression on their pre-season trip to Slovenia.

Elsewhere, TWTD understands released Blues midfielder Billy Clark is set for a trial with Luton having previously spent time with Gillingham and Sheffield United.

Another one of the youngsters released this summer, Irish midfielder David Cawley, is joining Galway United on trial, having recently been with Dundalk for a similar spell.

Meanwhile, striker Nathan Ellington is amongst a number of players speaking about life as a Muslim footballer in an article in The Independent. Ellington, who converted to Islam seven years ago, has set up the Association of Muslim Footballers.

May not be too much in it as Blackburn boss thought they were signing Ronaldinho and Beckham amongst others.

Certainly isn't Kean's first choice given the quote.

@bluey1668, Jewell can only pick what is available to him and then hope they deliver. We are all too aware of which positions need strengthening and which players do not seem up to the task. Too suggest that PJ's effort is not good enough, or that all is lost for 2011-12 after 4 league matches is ridiculous

I for one think that JB would bring some much needed creativity to our midfield. If a deal can be done then get it done. But don't think that Towns' attempts to bring JB to PR are an effort to hide away from the glaringly obvious. We need 2 centre halves, a RB, a natural and disciplined left winger and a striker.

Nobody ever won the league in August. In PJ we trust.

I certainly don't think we should press the 'panic button' with PJ. However, the Honeymoon is definitely over and I never thought I would witness the thrashings we have been dealt under PJ, including the Norwich result to add to ladt weeks two hidings. As Town fans we really have had our b4lls handed to us on a plate. Say what you want about Magic, and I am not saying he was the man to rake us forward, but it never happened on his watch or talk of relegation!! The Jurys out, PJ - make us believe once again!!

Right, bullard is an unwanted side show now. Lets not forget, he has been injured much of last two years and more. He is 32. His legs are going. Let the prem clubs have him. We can get better, if we damn well bother to look.......bullard was young and cheap once, before he went to wigan. We want young and hungry, not old and has been. More than anything, we need some blinking pace not more static players.

Accordng to a report I heard this tea-time on Radio Suffolk JB's agent reckoned he was in advanced talks with QPR.

Either way, there is no way he will be returning to Portman Road .... and can you blame him see what a total shambles we are?

To all those supporters who couldn't wait to get Keano out and reckoned nothing could be worse then his leadership I can only ask if you are happy with what you wished for!

Seriously, why are people so depressed? We got beat 3 times without our stand out cb, ingimarsson. We've known we need defenders, however it takes time to get the right players in. As far as the results, had gb been sacked after the utd game in 95, the rebuilding would not have begun. Be patient, 4 games into avseason is not the tome to judge, like last year, let's see what's happening come January and then look at our position. Oh and ps, magic's last season looked for all it's worth as a relegation battle, it was made to look better by the arrival of gio and keano's first 2 games!

So it's ok to sit back and watch us be humiliated week in week out until at least Jan. Oh well, why was I getting myself so worked up? We're obviously gonna be world- beaters come the new year. Glad you are so optimistic.

Blackburn are one of the favourites to go down this season though? Surely not much in it between a championship club and a premiership club that could potentially be fighting it out for survival.

ironic that we should get a journeyman on loan from blackburn to help them pay the wages of a quality player like bullard

if we get stuffed by dirty leeds it will not just be the end of the honeymoon but of the marriage

Defenders are what we need not another injury prone midfielder.
surely there must be some half decent players out there or is it the same old, area, wages,no belief,Ambition,i could go on. Lets face it, its going to take time to gel a team but will there be time. I just think its the cancer running though the whole club! time to go back to basics from the bot to the top and get rid of hang-ons before we face the two barrels.

@keanish @542hudson - please explain to us why you think bluey1668 should not express his opinion on this forum. Seems rather arrogant of you to suggest he shouldn't put his views forward - we hear yours often enough.

bedsitfc added 08:30 - Aug 24
if they want him they will go for him even if we didnt take andrews.

i am not sure if we should pay what i can only imagine high wages for jimmy (3 weeks in and nobody has signed him), but we do need someone in c.m leadbitter at fault for at least one goal against posh and cant pass the ball forward.
