Town Amongst Trio Eyeing Slovenian Defender
Town Amongst Trio Eyeing Slovenian Defender

Town, QPR and West Ham are all understood to have been alerted to the availability of Slovenian international defender Marko Å uler. The 28-year-old is currently with KAA Gent in Belgium but is looking to move on.

Å uler is unhappy at Gent because manager Trond Sollied plays him at left-back rather than the central defensive position he has occupied while winning 27 caps and scoring two goals for his country. Gent are believed to be willing to allow the 6ft 2in tall defender to leave if they receive the right offer.

Rated at around the €2 million mark, Šuler played youth football with hometown club NK Slovenj Gradec, then moved over the border to Austrian clubs SAK Klagenfurt and Kärnten.

In 2001 he was back in Slovenia with Dravograd, before departing for Gorica in 2004. After four seasons there, he joined Gent in 2008.

Meanwhile, Shamrock Rovers, the club where ex-Town skipper and boss Jim Magilton is temporary assistant manager, have become the first Irish side ever to reach the group stages of a European competition.

Dublin-based Rovers, who are managed by Magilton's former Northern Ireland team-mate Michael O'Neill, won 2-1 after extra time away in Serbia against Partizan Belgrade this evening to go through to the Europa League group phase, having drawn 1-1 in the home leg.

Well done Jim, seems you have helped get a team into Europe which is more than Celtic and Rangers have achieved.

Seems like an intelligent player and described as a leader on the pitch. At 28, slightly younger than others usually in this mould. So would be great if we did snap him up

How do i find this willow the wisp? Le fondre would be a snip at around 400k. Hope we get a deal on the table for him before West Ham and QPR.

Not being funny, his name just sounds like a good defender.

is everyone that sure about Le Fondre? surely if he was as good as we make out thered be more interest around him? Austin was more prolific at that level and has hardly set the world alight......£400k might be worth a punt, but im not so sure he'd cut it.....

rosseden, is it worth the risk though? He's 24, so therefore should still have a decent resale value in a year or twos time? Buy a ticket to win the raffle and all that? Reckon its gotta be worth a punt for the price and potential alone.

If we were to get Suler and Struna I honestly believe we would have the potential to become a real force in the division this season.

Of course its a big if and at this stage I'd simply be happy with just not losing on Saturday.

Very, very encouraged though by transfer activity and some of the names we're being linked with! COYBs

looking at that video the issue I have is him playing in the championship. A lot of them tackles both feet were off the ground and studs up. After last week we know how card happy ref's are even if the ball is played.

Looks good, but worth remembering that a promo video is bound to pick the very best tackles, passes, etc. But from what this shows I think he could be considerably better than any other CB's we currently have so would be worth a punt.

Marko Suler is a very good defender. Iv seen him a few times playing for Slovenia against Ireland on TV. Very tidy player and never panics!. He is 28 and brings bags of experience. Would be an excellent addition.
