Drury Keen on Permanent Crawley Switch
Drury Keen on Permanent Crawley Switch
Sunday, 20th Nov 2011 15:30

Crawley boss Steve Evans says on-loan Town midfielder Andy Drury wants to join the League Two side on a permanent basis. The 27-year-old netted the third goal of his 93-day spell at the Broadfield Stadium yesterday as the Red Devils beat Oxford United 4-1 at home.

Evans said: "He wants to join us on a permanent basis. But we will worry about that in January.

"In his words we have revised his thoughts about football — he enjoys coming to work every day."

Last week Blues boss Paul Jewell said he hadn’t entirely ruled Drury, who is back at Portman Road in mid-December, out of his plans but with the framework for a permanent move having been agreed when the £150,000 signing from Luton joined the League Two club in September, it seems likely the one-time builder will be leaving Portman Road.

Elsewhere, Jaime Peters was an unused sub as his loan club won 1-0 at Wycombe Wanderers.

Would like him to get a run for us. He looked decent when he arrived. Get him back and give them Leadbitter instead !!

Not played in the Prem? Not on a massive wage? Not in your 30s? Not injury prone?

Sorry, move on, we don't want you here.

Another one who wants to leave - I wonder why ????????

I'll predict the obvious comment from some 'bright spark' :-

'good luck to him he wasn't up to it anyway' - really !!!!

Unfortunately another one who 'has not really had a decent chance' here.

Ipswich is rapidly becoming a rest home for the lame and past it. Not the club I remember.

Ipswichm8; Apart from the comment about Leadbitter I didn't really understand anything you said but do you honestly think somebody will be willing to part with 2 mill for Leadbitter with only 6 months of his contract remaining? You're leaving in a dream world... We'll get 750k tops

ipswichm8 added 17:17 - Nov 20
not 2 mil but maybe imbertween 1 or 2 no way 750k because he use te bo good and if managers have looked at him they might make a bid imbertween 1 or 2 million

dont let Drury go.
The way things are panning out he will be scoring against us next season.
Norris all over again with leadbitter off on a free.
I thought clegg said after norris and co the club would never let the same situation happen again?

He's found his level. Not good enough for the 2nd division.

So Drury goes to Crawley permanently, Crawley get promoted and heaven forbid we get relegated. What price Crawley come here next season and beating us 1 nil with Drury the goalscorer!

Good luck to Drury.

Sad to see Peters isn't making it into the starting line up in League One.

As for Leadbitter, if we sell in January I think we will be looking at around £200K to be honest, given his contract situation.

I'd take Drury back and put him in the side any day of the week over Leadbitter right now. Time for him and Peter's to come back and time to get the blend of youth and experience right.

O'connor, Murray, Martin, Carson, Ainsley, Hyam, Peters, Cresswell, Smith, JET, Whight, Priskin, Wabara

Bullard, Bowyer, Andrews, Scotland, Collins, Sonko, Edwards, Chopra, Drury,
Healy, Ingimarson, Delaney, Ellington, Murphy, Leadbitter, Kennedy

If you're telling me we can't get the blend right even with off form players from those pickings then it's time we start looking strongly at the management and coaching staff because that's a team littered with youth, skill, pace, experience and goals.

Cant say I blame Drury for wanting away tbh. I think he was given a raw deal when he was here.

Id also have him in the side ahead of Leadbitter any day. The latter will soon be moving on as he has probably got another offer in the pipeline - smacks of another Norris situation to me.

It's clear Leadbitter and his agent have agreed to see out his contract so his new club can give him a bumper signing on fee (see Norris).

Jewell makes him captain of this great club and plays him every single week regardless of how poor he is. Another stab in the back for ITFC fans.

Drury needs to feel excited about his future

Don't we all?

Yes I agree 100% with Jewell do's opinion about Leadbitter.

A complete underperformer.

An tinselled actor but not a performer.

We should be looking to get Drury back here, give him a run in the team, his fitness levels will be good having played regular football + he,s got a winning mentality at Crawley.
