Magilton Linked With Move Down Under
Magilton Linked With Move Down Under
Friday, 6th Jan 2012 14:11

Former Blues boss Jim Magilton is reportedly set to be named the new manager of Australian side the Melbourne Victory. Coincidentally, Magilton's successor at Town, Roy Keane, was previously linked with the same job.

Magilton, who has also been linked with Derry City this week, recently missed out on the Northern Ireland management position with his friend Michael O'Neill, who he had been assisting at Shamrock Rovers, beating him to the role.

The 42-year-old is said to have flown to Australia for talks with the A-League side with his appointment believed to be close to being formalised.

Some people have very short memories, Jim was a major part of the success we enjoyed under Burley and always gave everything in both his playing and managerial roles. Good luck to him.

How any of you could say bad things about a great club servant is beyond me. Call yourself fans????

Very best of luck Jim, hope it all goes well for you, will never forget the disgraceful way Town fired you......it's almost like we are now reaping what we sowed!!!!

Good luck Jim, surprised you couldn't get a decent position over here, you always came over with pride and passion for football both on and off the pitch

Before ME invested into the club, Jim was doing a fantastic job. Unfort after he changed his transfer policy and spent too much on average players.

Would've thought that he would of started all over again in L1 or L2 and work his way up.

Melbourne Victory cost me £250 in an accumulator the other day, w***ers! Good luck Jim! Saw a few games last year when I was in Perth and Melbourne whilst at the Ashes, the standard is league 1/2 so its crap but why not! Great place to live! We as a club treated him badly!

Best of luck to him. Sad that things didn't quite work out for him as manager here. But we should all be thankful for having had him at the club.

I went to the meeting where the Blues Foundation was launched to raise money for the Academy. One thing was for certain, Jim was passionate about bringing the young players through.

Unfortunately when things started to go wrong, Jim put too much faith in the older, experienced players like Jermaine Wright and Tommy Miller.

An accusation that could be levelled at Keane and Jewell. I stopped contributing to the foundation when Keane kicked out all the youngsters that JIm had talked so eloquently about and brough in a load of Icelandic schoolboys who I have not heard of since.

He may have not have enjoyed as much managerial success as he had hoped for while at Town and maybe man management was his downfall, but I cannot question his contribution as a player or his passion for the club. I wish Jewell had a 1/4 of his passion.

Good luck JIm wherever you end up.

Best of luck to Jim and I look forward to seeing him here if it happens!

Not sure why people are criticising him, he is the best manager we have had since royle left without question. We would have been promoted by now had he stayed in charge.
