Blues Linked With Move for Coventry Defender Thursday, 10th May 2012 09:37
Town are reported to have made a bid for Coventry City central defender Richard Keogh. The 25-year-old was previously with the Blues as an Academy schoolboy when he was also a Portman Road ballboy.
The Harlow-born 6ft 2in tall defender won the Sky Blues’ 2011/12 Player of the Year - for the second season running - and Players’ Player of the Year awards but couldn’t prevent his side from being relegated to League One. He was also named the official Man of the Match when the Blues won 3-2 at the Ricoh Arena in February.
Several clubs are said to have shown an interest in January and Town may well face competition for the former Republic of Ireland U21 international’s signature. Coventry’s demotion is likely to mean his exit is all but certain.
Keogh, who is contracted until the summer of 2013, moved to Stoke — where he failed to make a senior appearance - after leaving Playford Road and then spent time with Icelandic side VÃkingur (loan), Bristol City, Wycombe (loan), Huddersfield (loan), Carlisle (loan) and Cheltenham (loan).
In 2008 he moved to Carlisle on a permanent basis, before joining the Sky Blues for an undisclosed fee in the summer of 2010.
Blues boss Paul Jewell has said he wants to add two central defenders to his squad over the summer with Tommy Smith and Damien Delaney currently the only two at the club, Ibrahima Sonko recently having joined Ãvar Ingimarsson in being released.

Haven't seen much of this guy. Coulc be a good signing thou and realistic. We will bring in two centre halves this summer so be nice to get this done early.

Exactly the sort of player we should be trying to bring in. Don't worry about him being relegated, as Coventry conceded 6 fewer goals than us at home and 6 away, so 12 fewer altogether. To win Player of the Season two years running is impressive and he's only 24 years old, perfect. Sign him up!

Gareth McAuley was he relegated with Leicester. But Leicester went down with a positive goal difference!! Nevertheless I think he is better than we have.

Would be a good signing in my opinion as we need the centre backs anything else heard about the wickham rumour.....?

If he's a decent player, you can bet your house on it that we wont get him here. But we will probably haggle and ponce around for the whole summer before Leeds or someone else nicks in and gets the player.

Walberswick - is there any danger of you ever making a positive comment on TWTD? Good player this guy. Hopefully we can get him in, players don't get player of the year awards without merit (certainly 2 years on the trot at Championship), and has lots of Championship experience even at (importantly) a young age (plenty of potential). Just hope that Clegg and Evans can get a deal done. Any idea how much he would cost us?

keaneish - a number of forest fans I know have said we would be welcome to Luke Chambers (apparently he has been attrocious this season!). I do admit that he is a player I thought would be good on paper though..

why don't we slag him off b4 he get here, that way, as he can read, i'm pretty sure he can, he will look at negative comments and wonder why should he bother. oh some of you already have. Give a guy a break, Come here young man and sign for Ipswich, you know the area, so please, get ya butt here and sign, we need a leader at the back, you and smith could be our future for the next 4 years at center back, yes smith will be quality, he is already pretty good.

its good to see we are linked with some good championship players , if we get the likes of Gallagher from Leicester , Buldock from west ham , Keogh from Cov and Ward from Pompy all would be great signings , as i said all good championship players .

Another 'linked' story. PJ is on holiday so isn't talking to the press. I bet we haven't even enquired about his availability.

Sammy Clingan just been released by Cov, I know he played for the scum but would be a perfect replacement for Leadbitter!!

Bobble i don't care if he is a serial killer if he gets us a few more clean sheets mate

Couldn't agree more Bluearmy78, I've been saying that for a while on here. Would be a great partnership with Drury or Bullard and the perfect person to bring Hyam along a little! Surely you can see this one PJ!! Please!

I have a clean sheet Michael 11 as my wife washed them today, and got them dried before it rained. Feel that this is as interesting as all the rumours on here which usually fail to materialise due to club either not offering long enough contract or enough money to either club or player. Its happening so often now that it cant be hard luck all the time. Most of us felt that we could compete with others when Evans took over but doesn't seem to be happening.

if we can't get this guy we can't get anyone.

Having missed out on Pearce TWICE - this sounds like the sort of player we need alongside Smith and as people are suggesting he is a potential captain ... does he boss the defence in the way we have been lacking?
