| Jewell Reasonably Pleased With Draw Tuesday, 17th Jul 2012 20:51

Blues boss Paul Jewell was relatively pleased with his side’s 1-1 draw at Helmond Sport in their opening pre-season friendly. The Town manager said: “It was a typical pre-season friendly, you always get a bit frustrated because you want everything to be right straight away and that’s not going to happen. “You could see how long the grass was in the first half, we couldn’t really move the ball. In the second half we did a lot better, we got something out of the game - a bit of fitness.” Jewell believes Michael Chopra’s goal was the reward for hard graft over the summer: “He’s done really well, he’s been very sharp, he’s worked extremely hard over the close season. We sent him away with the fitness coach to California and hopefully we’ll see the benefit of that.”

It's all about fitness at this stage, so a 1-1 draw is fine.
If it is true about bidding for Loach, what will come of Kello's trial? It's difficult to judge him if he hardly had a save to make.

Good work out I'm sure for all the players. Good news as well most of the players will be given a chance to shine in pre season. Great start for Chop's lets hope it continues.

Feeling good about Chopra this season. Hopefully he can bag a couple more in the rest of pre-season.

With fire power up front and a decent keeper to keep clean sheets, job done :-)

Great news for chops and no injuries and a useful run out you could not ask for more....ok a win but you know what I mean.

I woudnt be surprised if PJ signed Loach ad Kello. He said when the other GK was on trial he may sign more than 1 keeper.

I like the sound of Bullard. He could be one the season's most interesting stories whatever happens.

Sounds like a decent run out to ease into the pre-season games. Average age coming down and the more experienced Bullard and Chops starting with promising outings. | | | |

I've just read on the star website that Martin wasnt included in the 20 man squad, WTF???!!!! Whats all that about???? They better not be thinking of moving him on!!!!!!

Martin had a slight niggle from training so was rested. No dramas

Blue lady - maybe you've solved the mystery of why we cannot get a goal keeper to sign for us - they have to double up as the laundry lady and clean the sheets.

Cheers MathieandMarshall for the update (Love the name by the way) hope your right, slight niggles followed by tranfers is oldest trick in book.

From TWTD match report:

Trialists Marian Kello, Plaisir Bahamboula and Soualio Bakayogo were amongst the subs with Lee Martin missing with a minor niggle.

Very true talbs! Hopefully that isn't the case this time?! The squad is starting to look half decent on paper.

Ha ha story of my life boys!!
I agree MathieandMarshall I really like the fact he seems to be targeting young, hopefully hungry players who have long term future at the club with decent sell on price. I really think things are coming together and hope fans on here dont go negative just because there not big names.

If you look at ITFC history, when they have had quiet pre season signings and are unfancied like we are this year we tend to do well.
