Jewell Still Has Backing of Bosses
Sunday, 21st Oct 2012 15:02

Town boss Paul Jewell continues to have the backing of owner Marcus Evans and chief executive Simon Clegg, TWTD understands. The Blues manager, who said he would discuss his future with Evans after yesterday’s game at Hull City, is expected at his pre-match press conference tomorrow lunchtime ahead of Tuesday’s match against his former club Derby County at Portman Road.

Jewell, who was at Playford Road this morning to watch the 1-0 U21s victory over QPR, yesterday said he would consider his position with the Blues without a win in 10 games and in 23rd in the table.

"We have to look at the bigger picture for Ipswich and think ‘Am I the man to take them forward?’, he said.

"And if I decide when I speak to Marcus and one or two other people who are close to me that the best thing for Ipswich is not to be here, then I’ll do that.

“I don’t want to do that, I’ve got to be honest and I hope the answers I come up with are positive answers but I’ve got to be honest with myself and honest with Marcus and honest with people close to me.”

The answers he has received from those in charge at the club appear to have been those that he was looking for.

@MickMillsTash..quite right re Jewell's dodgy "sex tape" shennigans...whatta guy!

Too many people think he's a great guy because he's always making quips in press conferences etc etc - he;s supposed to be a football manager not a stand up comedian...the bottom line is he's signed so many players (some decent signings too) but hasn't had a bloody clue how to organise the team defensively since day 1...his strategy seems to be "let's hope we can outscore the opposition"...I could do that, any supporter could do that...it's unbelievably amateurish & I don't care how much stick I get for this but it's got to the point where I hope Derby take us apart on tuesday evening and put the final nail in Jewell's coffin..this disaster, joke, abysmal part of our club's history needs to come to a stop before it's too late..it would be a tradegy if we get relegated by a couple of points because we didn't get rid of this clown sooner rather than later...victory on tuesday will only paper over a bloody huge crack.

I think Jewell is looking for a financial settlement and the club don't want to pay the compensation as they think he is close to walking. If Jewell walks then the club doesn't have to pay out. If Jewell gets sacked then there is also likely to be compensation to pay for Hutchings,McCarthy, probably Liddell. Whilst Jewell and his "support" team are only contracted to the end of this season, it would not be a cheap dismissal.

We need a messiah rather than a new manager, there is only one person that fits the bill and that is Terry Butcher. Ipswich fan, Ipswich player, Ipswich captain, Ipswich legend.

Realistically, Billy Davies would be my choice when Jewell goes.

There seem to be hundreds of fans who are very disappointed that Jewellio is still here today, mind you they have a right to express there feelings,, and I cannot blame them !!!
there was so many names thrown in to the hat who was taking over, that we all thought he had gone ??? then the Shock came and hit us all !!!
Looking at the Poll it now says 92.6 says he cannot take us forward, and to think last night he wanted to do what is best for Ipswich Town !!!!! Joker???

Classycranson - firstly never thought Ian Cranson was classy? but could probably defend better than our current defenders!! back to the main point, good comment - ME won't sack him because of the cost involved and PJ won't resign because he is waiting for his big pay day, so stalemate - what a shambles the club is in? as a supporter of the club for over 40 years just hope some how we can survive this season and re-group in the summer, but then we thought we were going to do that last summer!! very dark days!!!

Unbelievable.

Jewell wants to go - he pretty much admitted he's not up to the job which should be an instant dismissal - but can't resign as he knows he will struggle to get another managerial position after this.

I hope Evans is not gambling the club's Championship status for the sake of a a pay-out. Jewell has to go. Everyone can see it.

This just gets worse and worse every day, what is going on,

We sit 23rd,1 league win,90th minute winner at Watford,1 home league win since March,
then to top it all we lose at Hull, deservedly so,should of been by more, the manager then says he is considering his future, which is possibly one of the biggest negatives you can say in football.

We all wake up expecting the news we all have dreamed of for weeks, that this clown has gone and NO,he remains in charge.

It's farcical,we are a total joke, why oh why does he not walk, again for the umpteenth time,Paul Jewell, worse manager in our club's history.

JEWELL OUT PLEASE.

We seem to turn good players into average/poor players....
That should be the biggest question that needs to be answered....
We sign rising stars who turn into flops.
What is going on in training?
Have we got a clown in charge who teaches them to spin plates?

“I think we've got the strongest squad I've had since I came to the club, without a shadow of a doubt. The coaching staff is another matter"

Evans and Clegg are as clued up as Jewell himself. Therefore, let's get rid of all of them and start afresh. Just make sure we don't get a Ridsdale or Storrie at the helm. An Arab Shiek would be my preferred choice.
