Winter Joins Leiston on Loan
Saturday, 30th Mar 2013 09:59

Academy striker Tom Winter has joined Ryman League Premier Division side Leiston on loan. The 18-year-old is set to make his debut in today’s home game against Lowestoft.

Winter, who has been with the Blues since he was eight, is one of the five academy second-year scholars to have been offered a one-year professional contract by Town.

Pity he hasn't been loaned to a higher standard league - but if he starts banging them in for them, then that'll prove that he is far too good for that standard and give MM something to think about for next season.

its a case of walking before you can run, lets hope he can make the step up from there.

Agreed. I think Steve Foley is still involved at Leiston so he can provide regular updates. Him and Emmanuel Osei should be a great pairing in that league.

It doesn't really matter what league he's in at that age. He'd be better playing every week at that level getting experience rather than sat on somewhere in a higher leagues bench not getting much of a look in. Nice to see we're loaning these boys out and seeing what they can do rather than just giving them away like in the Keane era.

Totally agree Michael11, I think it's good for him to be playing men's football at whatever level. We should make more use of Leiston, Bury and Lowestoft for our kids. May be Cambridge United in the BSP would be a useful link?
