I haven't seen much of Kilgallon, but I am not impressed by what I have seen. Hasn't Brian Murphy had an odd career? What a waste.

Whoops mis-read that as Darryl Murphy. Called him all the names under the sun for a minute.

I don't think we'll sign him. His wages will be far too much for what looks like defensive cover for Smith/Chambers.

"Competition for Kilgallon ?" Does this mean there is a premium phone number to call or something?

Apparently he doesn't want to play second fiddle to Smith and Chambers. What's happened to Kisnorbo? Anyone any idea if he's been offered a contract or not?

We shouldn't be wasting our money on him, spend the money on young and hungry

Sorry, but simply not confident then. It's rumoured that we are paying just £5k a week for players. Although I agree with the view that that's plenty (as footballers are overpaid) - the reality is it's unlikely we will be competitive offering those terms. I don't think we should pay over the odds - but if a player is offered £5k or £8k per week, I know where he will go! I also don't sign up to the view that £5k per week will be the average paid by Championship clubs. We will need to do better IMO.

jas0999. the £5k a week rumour is rubbish. thought everyone knew that. just someone coming up with a figure and putting it in a paper & on a message board. the fact is that no1 knows what the wage budget is , so why not just wait and see. certainly if we were offering that to new players, why would they sign when we already have players earning more than that. that alone should tell ne1 who seen this so called wage cap quoted, that its more than likely total rubbish. along with all the other stories about the financial dealings we gonna do this year, clearly the club will be tightening the belt, as they have to, and im sure that's ther reason that mc and jet have been transfer listed and why, im sure, if a suitable bid was to come in for cresswell that he will be sold in order to give us more money to use for squad strengthening.

My guess is Blackburn and Wigan will be in a position to pay much more than we are prepared to. If this was ever a runner its not now!

Everyone in the Championship has got to adhere to FFP, it's a question of how important Kilgallon would be to each of those clubs and what their existing wage bill looks like. Of course Wigan can afford to pay whatever they like and at 29 I would have thought the lure of Premiership football would be bigger than ever.
