Chopra Undergoes Medical
Wednesday, 24th Jul 2013 21:54

Striker Michael Chopra has revealed that he completed a medical this afternoon with Blackpool the club involved. Yesterday, boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that the 29-year-old was in talks with another club after he was absent from the squad at Colchester.

Chopra tweeted: “Long day today just finished medical. Four and a half hours is a long time to be in a scanner.”

Blackpool emerged as contenders to sign the former England U21 international earlier today with rumours that he was with the Tangerines circulating throughout the afternoon. Confirmation of the switch seems likely to come on Thursday.

Chopra has added a number eight to his Twitter name, one of several shirts currently vacant at Bloomfield Road.

The striker, previously linked with Barnsley and Sheffield Wednesday, appears certain to be moving on a free transfer with the Blues settling the remaining year of his contract.

Blackpool are also expected to add Bristol City frontman Steven Davies, a Blues target last summer while he was at Derby, to their squad.

Bye bye buffoon indeed!

The man's a total waste of space and a drain on wages from our more capable players (of which we now have many!) - as well as affecting morale and support from the fans.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we need to look to the future, MM's the best manager we've had here for ages and has the ability to turn things around. The match against Colchester was great and for once I don't think there are any weak links in the side!

Good luck JET, Good riddance Martin, **** off Chopra!

I don't understand what Keane has to do with Chopra failing here.

Also I agree with some of the comments on here with regards to Chopra the player in that he did well in his first season as a lone striker (not his role) and was barely in the team last season. I think there is goals in him I just wish it could have been for us. Was so excited when he came.

So apparently Michael Chopra is a pre-madonna, maybe that's why he didn't get his 30 goals last season, his legs has gone, I mean she must have been around over 30 years now.

Don't know why people are going on about Keane, he may have wanted Chopra, but it was Jewell who got him.

And I, for one, will wish him well, remembering the goal in the snow at the Ricoh and letting the off-field stuff pass into history. Tho I don't think it's a mistake letting him go.

Is he a sad lonely man constantly tweeting his every move or does he have an over inflated opinion of himself? Are they one of the same thing?

Go. Go now. The only thing I'm gutted about is we have to pay you off to spoil MMs near perfect record in this transfer window! Then again, you've tarnished everything you've touched since you've been here and repaid the club nothing so it's of no surprise you're mercenary enough to take a big cash parting gift...

Tomorrow at work ill be thankful that no more of my hours in the office are fuelling you're pockets!

At least by moving to Blackpool he will have fewer fans to upset with his tweets.

HE is going on a free and Marcus Evans has still got to pay him off !! does not make sense to me ???? I wonder if his new club would pay off his gambling debts and send him to California for specialised training ?????? Let us all hope this is the last one ??? THE Dark Lord and Jewellio have cost Marcus a fortune between them ??? and left Mick with a small Budget to put right that those two have undone and overspent between them !!!

"Perhaps notably, Chopra has added a number eight to his Twitter name, one of several shirts currently vacant at Bloomfield Road."

A number also available at Sheffield Wednesday, especially with bbc reporting Blackpool to sign Steven Davies

I hope the medical did not include psycho profiling. Probaby the worst place in the world for him as Blackpool is known to be the las vegas of the UK. Seriously rant over. I wish you the best chops as would wish no ill on anyone.

Thats the end of it we have rid of all the big hype players we now have MM/TC's squad we all now have to forget the torrid last few years and look forward to the future COYB on wards upwards!!!!

Lets get this into perspective, when was he ever played in a proper role? never only used as a lone striker, He will move on and score a hat full of goals. He is and always has been a quality striker. his off field antics and problems have clouded judgement on him. Mark my words this will haunt us.

I'm just tired of seeing his face on TWTD photo headlines; he's had enough attention at Ipswich; good luck, good bless, get out.

Do it matter how many goals he score because we now have the quality at Town to score loads of goals and we have a far better team now
As long as we finish above Blackpool this season and hopefully get promoted that's all I care
I know he is not liked by many of the town fans but lets all act like Ladys and Gentlemen and wish well in his future and hope he don't come back and bite us on our bums

No one can say that chops wasn't a good footballer just a shame his personality wasn't the same good luck and don't score to many goals as in my eyes a goal scorer will always score in the right surroundings you don't just lose it

I wish you luck chops, Truthfully you were a promising player that did not perform at your strength at PR. Understandably with your problems it took most of your career at PR to a bad name and you turned on the fans in it's toughest days. I believe you will do well at another club and I would like to thank you for the important goals that you scored for us.

All the best.

I used to feel really sorry for Chops but not any more. It is probably the best thing for all parties that he goes and we can again seek an authentic 20 goal a season man!

I hope he has got his gambling under control and don't be tempted in the Blackpool arcades with all the slot machines in his spare time
Being a gambler myself I know how hard it is and I cant resist playing the machines every time I go in my local bookmakers
Hopefully he is not as stupid as me and he will just concentrate on his football because if he could put all his problems behind him who knows what he could achieve because he is not as bad a striker as some Town fans are making out he is and I have seen him score some good goals
But all in all its right for him to move on now because he is well down the pecking order and he would not get many games for Town now
Good luck what ever you do chops

Best money we have spent for a long time. There is a myth about him being a 20 goal season striker but he is not and never has been. All those that want him here fail to see that with such rubbish in the team you're heading for div 1. Cardiff dumped him for the same reason. I bet he doesn't get reach 10 league goals at blackpool
