Marriott Set to Join Woking On Loan
Thursday, 7th Nov 2013 14:42

Blues boss Mick McCarthy has revealed that striker Jack Marriott is close to completing a loan move to Skrill Premier side Woking. The 19-year-old is set to spend a month with the Surrey club, who currently sit fourth from bottom of their league.

McCarthy believes the striker, who scored twice for the U21s earlier in the week, will benefit from playing regular first-team football.

“Woking want to take him and if he goes and plays at Woking I think it’ll be great for him,” he said.

sorry but have to agree with the minuses.why on earth is he not getting a chance here, people his age can run around for 90 mins and not draw breath and if you have an eye for goal i don't think it matters what league your in as Le fondre has proved (and Rhodes)

It surely would have made a damn sight more sense to give him at least a couple of half hour stints coming off the bench before deciding whether to send him out on loan or not.

Well its down to the lad himself.

If he rips up the league he's playing in it will prove he should have been loaned out to a higher level club!

Predictable but none the less laughable , people can make out it will be good for the lad but they really are only kidding themselves.

The only thing that the lad can do now is do put on the Woking shirt and (no disrespect intended) tell himself that he doesn't ever want to play at that level again and score score score. Then come back with that extra swagger in his step, bang on MM office door and tell him 'Can Nouble or have scored that many in the Skrill Premier? Now start me and give me a few starts to prove myself.

agreed @Bluetone! as I mentioned earlier do we know what Taylor will be like in comparison to when he left on loan to Posh before sending him out? to go down that far in Leagues seem a bit tough, maybe League 2. Mick never even gave him 10 minutes but saying that he would have needed a whole match at least with the service he'd be getting from our midfield.

Surprised he has had to drop 3 divisions but some first team football & hopefully more goals will only help him

One word - DISGRACEFUL - we can't score goals, and we haven't even tried him late on in games.

I rest my case.

Being from the Surrey, Woking are my local team and I do sometimes go to see them when I haven't been able to get to Town for one reason or another.

The Skrill league is by no means an easy league, most teams have big 6 foot somethings at the back who will prove a tough test for Jack. It's a good place to cut your teeth and if he can score a few goals for the Cards on difficult pitches, he'll come back to Town a much sharper player.

........ he won't learn, or prove a thing at that level. Too much flair and potential for the current regime is the problem here.

Jordan Rhodes was treated just the same at this Club - will do much to encourage other youngsters to ply their trade here with similar potential - won't it just ? ABSOLUTELY LIVID.

But why should I care ? - I shouldn't even have the audacity to disagree with anything should I ? - or otherwise I will be sent to someone else !! - Woking I guess.

'Jordan Rhodes treated the same way' - blueboy

Yes, that's right. Sent out on loan to improve him as a player at a different level with regular football. If I'm not mistaken, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, isn't Jordan Rhodes the best goal scoring machine outside of the premier league...???

It's only a month, get him playing at fit ready for the busy Christmas/New Year period.

Woking doesn't sound glamorous but the jump from
Under 21 football to Woking is much more feasible than to a League One club for loan.

Don't quite know where he is going to bang the goals in from if Woking are doing so poorly. The service they give to their strikers must be as poor as ours! I agree with posters that he should have been given a chance with US before going on loan. My biggest fear is that he does well at Woking and then comes back and sits on the bench for another 5 months.

No-one knows how good Marriot is at senior level, he's entirely unproven, I really hope that he turns out to be good for us but at the moment there is no justification for all this moaning. Conference Prem and competitive professional games against seniors and old pro's is going to be a step up in standard from the U-21's. He'll learn a lot from the experience and come back stronger.

Frankly you could look up half the posts on here from the last 2 seasons swap the name "Carson" for "Marriot" and it would look exactly the same.

Will give him experience, but i would rather see him coming into the first team picture perhaps the turn of the year will start this young mans career!

Keaneish - ... if he doesn't get his chance at this Club, THIS SEASON, he will be as peed off as Rhodes was with this Club. And by the end of the season, and end of his contract remember, he will have a host of offers waiting - shame some of you don't recognise a gem of a player (including the Manager) when one is unearthed at this Club.

In the past such players wouldn't get near a sniff of leaving - but we are not allowed to mention the past are we ?

Club is a sad shadow of it's former self - now hit the minus button - and wrongly accuse me of being H32 in disguise.
Just hope he comes on and supports me with a post.
