Blues in Talks With Leeds Midfielder Thursday, 30th Jan 2014 11:05 Leeds midfielder Paul Green is reported to be in talks with the Blues regarding a loan move. Republic of Ireland international Green is out of favour at Elland Road and hasn’t played a first team game for the Whites since October.
Green, 30, was previously linked with the Blues during Paul Jewell’s time as boss, the former Town manager having signed him during his spell at Derby.
Pontefract-born Green started his career with Doncaster Rovers, joined Derby on a free transfer in the summer of 2008 and then moved on to Leeds in June 2012, signing a two-year deal. He has been capped 20 times by Ireland, scoring once.
Green, who is 5ft 9in tall, has made 42 starts and four sub appearances during his time with Leeds, scoring four goals, one in last season's 2-0 defeat of the Blues at Elland Road. He suffered a hamstring injury while on international duty in November but returned to training earlier in the month.
Town manager Mick McCarthy is keen to get Anthony Wordsworth out on loan to play games, but with Luke Hyam sidelined with a gashed leg, has said he would be unable to do so unless he brought someone in.

LancsBlue ... MM rates Nouble and i watch him week in week out and think he is dreadful .Just because he is manager doesn't mean every decision he makes is right . Town fans slated Delaney ,Bruce and Mac yet they are all playing well in the premier league regularly . For me this is another very average work hard player that will not create or score goals so should slot into our midfield well and be picked regularly

meekreech agree that results count to owners like evans and others in the modern game but if we were to take the time to build a passing attacking philosophy and invest further in the academy and bring young players through then we can acheive results. micks style will get you reasonable results in the championship but we would be slaughtered in the premier league.I also think we would gain more by being more gung ho as when it works we get 3 points whereas playing for a draw only gets you 1 better to win 1 and lose 2 than draw 2 and lose 1

Oh Yeah Theobald, Paul Jewell tried the "Gung-Ho" approach and we ended up getting tonked every week even by the likes of Peterborough!

MickMillsTash - we were told at Elland Road on Tuesday from a reliable source that David Norris has a long term injury problem and that is what is keeping him out of the Leeds side.

luke_38 added 11:32 - Jan 30 A lot of people on twitter all say he can run for days but his passing is very average. Should fit in well with the rest of the team then............big Micks favourite sort of player!

If hes good enough for mick then hes good enough for me. i dont know much about this player although i have a vague recollection of his time when he was at Derby. Firstly its great to see Mick trying to another midfield option which is what we need, Mick likes experienced players that work hard and run all day in this respect i think he would be tough enough for a central midfield role. All you nay sayers need to remember that this is only a loan so expectations shouldnt be shooting for the stars!!!

The only thing i can say is if Turncliffe was to go Green was his replacement .Seen him with ROI and a grafter with a good engine thats it, a MM type of player. We are going to make do with Micks thinking on our midfield no creativity or vision.I can put up with this as long as we have width which gives us something going forward.

Geez fellas, give the man a break. He's played 20 times for Ireland, coming up against far better players than he'll ever come across in this league. I've seen him play several times in that arena and yes he's no Maradonna, but the Manager (not MM) saw fit to play him 20 times. MM is pretty shrewd as well in case you hadn't noticed.

Green, urrghhh, and we still claim of ambitions for a promotion push? Mick needs proper backing so we can get a decent caliber of player in and not just other teams rejects to make up numbers

Seems MM happy with first choice 11 just looking for cover so wont get quality loanees they always want to play in the hope of a better job. As for Ohara saw him at wolves last year was overrated.

I'm not normally one to be negative but I have to agree I don't see much value in this. Seems like a bit of a waste of money as no doubt we'll be chipping a few grand a week towards his wages. The sort of signing that will probably pull his weight in guiding us to 10th, which would be a decent season but I would love to see us push the boat out a bit and bring in someone a bit more creative. Wickham would be the dream although I can't see that happening. Wickham and Murphy either side of Mcgoldrick would be such a handful.

JWM dont really think jewell was gung ho-piss poor maybe. i remember holloway taking a very ordinary blackpool squad up playing all out attack. they then only just went down despite having a wage cap of 8 grand a week at the time and having players like harewood and varney in the first team. wins are much better than bore draws and I would like my team to be positive and at least try and win and play football

Average player who doesn't score many goals. No better than we have. Need an attack minded midfield player.

Anybody else think that when we hear transfer news about who were linked with, we get that sinking feeling and think oh no, surely were better than that? Are any of the players were linked with going to make us a better team, playing better football? I think they are not.
