Christophe Berra was named the Town Supporters’ Player of the Year at tonight’s Player Awards evening. The Scotland international beat Daryl Murphy into second place, David McGoldrick into third and last year's winner Tommy Smith into fourth.

Berra also won the Junior Blues Player of the Year award, while McGoldrick carried off the Away Match Passport holders’ gong.

Centre-half Berra tweeted: "Thanks to all the fans who voted me Supporters and Junior Blues Player of the Year. #honoured. Now prepare for a big Easter weekend."

Second-year scholar Kyle Hammond won the Dale Roberts Academy Player of the Year award. The right-back, who is out of action for the next seven to nine months with a knee ligament injury, recently agreed a professional contract with the Blues.

Delighted for Murphy too; he's had his critics over the years, but he was always worth a spot in the matchday squad & has been consistently good this season. With Ebanks-Blake showing a bit more of what he can do lately & McGoldrick coming back to fitness, we could be very strong up front were we to make the playoffs. Again I'd be hoping for new contracts for these guys; good first team quality players for the Championship, but also lads that would make the squad of a Premiership club.
