Hunt to Return to Leeds
Monday, 29th Dec 2014 19:00

Loanee striker Noel Hunt will return to parent club Leeds following Tuesday’s home game against Charlton with no agreement in place regarding an extension to the Irishman’s spell at Portman Road.

“Noel will be leaving us after the Charlton game,” Town boss Mick McCarthy told the club site.

“His loan was due up on Saturday but with the FA Cup game at Southampton pushed back until the Sunday, he now can’t play in that game.

“There is nothing in place between the two clubs to extend the deal. There is no agreement there so Noel will have to go back to Leeds and do something else.”

Hunt, the younger brother of winger Stephen, has made three sub appearances for the Blues since signing on loan a month ago with his only goal his dramatic debut strike in the away game against tomorrow’s opponents Charlton.

The Ireland international previously indicated that he would like to join the Blues on a permanent basis believing he has no future at Elland Road.

Never thought that he was great, but he gave us arguably our best moment this season so far! Good luck Noel, COYB!

I am a little disappointed with this one because he could be good in a back up role but I'm sure Mick and Terry know what they are doing.

Thank you for that wonderful goal at Charlton Noel. Personally thought you were poor at Brentford but you gave your all. Good luck for the future.

We'll always be grateful for Charlton away .... does seem like we're clearing the decks ready for the January sales.... I expect Taylor, Wordsworth and Veseli to be out the door sharpish too.

Thanks Noel, all the best :)

Seems like we are clearing the decks for a new face or two maybe! We are in the privilege position for a change as an attractive option for players looking for a move.

I'm thinking with St ledger and hunt going it could well be that MM has new faces coming in in the transfer window, from what I hear they weren't playing that much anyway so no great lose and with mings and hyam coming back into the fold I'm not really that worried I wouldn't go so far as to say we have strength in depth but I would say we had a solid 15/16 which isn't to bad and I also find when a team is winning as we are there doesn't seem to be so many injuries.. That might just be me thinking that

Ive got the funny feeling Evans might be looking to give Mick a bit of money in January to really push for automatic. But obviously Mick would have to get rid of any unnecesarry wages first.

Permanent deal for Williams maybe although the change of management at Palace might scupper that.

We're going so well that for once I've not really been thinking of who we could sign to improve us, other than getting Williams back. Who do we think could come in and give us an extra push, but most importantly not upset the current balance and spirit in the team?

How about a move for Mr Bent for remainder of season ?
Would really add goals for the run in

Had a feeling that this might happen. A player who was only with us for a very brief period but left us all with one enduring memory.

Not gonna read too much into it - may simply be that Mick didn't feel it was working out or whatever - though I wish him the best of luck as he seems like a decent guy.

Cheers for your contribution to our season, Noel, it may prove to be a significant one. And thanks for helping to put that Charlton trip on the list of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in my years as a Town fan.

I think we need another quality striker, if Didz or Murph get injured Sammon and Bajner arent up to the job in my opinion.
If we could Williams back for the rest of the season and maybe a Chris Wood id be happy with that, gives us options, Williams can rotate with Bishop or cover Didz of injured, Wood covers Murph.

A bit of a wage bill clear-out today.... transfer action expected me thinks.

Fair enough. Great goal, but not the required standard. Just one thing.... Conor Sammon.. WTF?! A rare mistake by MM!

I think that Mr Evans will back MM for whoever he wants as 5mil for 1 player who could be a difference in MM eyes will be nothing considering the 80mil jackpot. I think we could do with 2 players really a CB and a Striker as Sammon doesn't seem upto it and never does Bajner

To be fair, apart from the goal at charlton, we didn't really see what he could do and I guess he may be back as a squad player at some point - can't imagine it's easy doing business with Leeds at the moment.

Dont rule it out that he might return. Leeds have a reputation for being difficult to deal with!

Think leeds might have been asking for a bigger wage contribution "theres no agreement" suggests we wanted to hang on to him. Chris Wood for me, wouldn't expect to be an automatic starter and would bring goals and get on with Tommy

Agreed. It sounds like we want him, but Leeds aren't agreeing on our terms.

Mick being very coy there; sounds like negotiating tactics and Leeds are probably dragging their feet. I strongly suspect NH will end up signing again during January either on loan or permanently.

I would like to see Noel return, clearly a good character to have around as I am sure he would be of great help to our progressing younger players such as Bishop and Hyam.
His desire and enthusiasm is just what we want at the moment.

This can only mean that there is a replacement in the pipeline me thinks

Small squad, players leaving or not required. Assume the club have other options lined up.
