Williams Says Goodbye
Monday, 29th Dec 2014 21:59

Loanee Jonny Williams has said his goodbyes to Town fans as his loan spell with the club comes to an end.

The Wales international hasn’t played since suffering a groin injury in the 1-0 home victory over Watford on November 8th and has undergone his rehabilitation back with his parent club Crystal Palace.

Williams is now back in full training but his spell is officially up following tomorrow’s game against Charlton.

“Would like to thank Ipswich for another great experience,” Williams wrote on Instagram. “Would have loved to have played a bit more but wasn't meant to be.

“Thanks to all of the fans for the great support and kind messages. Good luck and keep winning!”

Williams made four starts and one sub appearance after joining the Blues for a second loan spell in September, scoring having come off the bench on his second debut in the 1-1 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

The 21-year-old was previously on loan at Portman Road during the second half of last season when he made 11 starts and two sub appearances, scoring one goal.

Speaking last week, Town boss Mick McCarthy said he would be interested in Williams returning for a third spell if Palace were to make him available: "They know there’s a home for him here if they want to loan him out again.”

He's ok, but he's no teddy bishop, is he?

Thanks for being the ideal loanee showing the sort of commitment to the cause some of our recent permanent 'stars' have rarely shown...

Interesting. Lots of players leaving. Surely several coming in?

It's funny to think he only scored two goals for us. It seems like he scored many more (and that assist at Brighton last year was the best moment of the season). Good luck, Jonny!

Wouldn't say several. But reckon s couple and one of those might well be Hunt on the dotted line! The other? Either attacking MF or a much needed striker

Makes me laugh to think of Bournemouth fans wailing about our supposed physicality after the Eksteand challenge on Johnny meant we haven't been able to use him for the last 6 weeks.

Best wishes Jonny. You provided the spark that we needed last season and, thankfully, having been inspired by your style and 100% efforts, we are considerably more self sufficient at the moment. Having said that it would still be great to see you back again.

Sad to see JW not return - an exciting player to watch.

So, there must be a player/players coming in. However, ‘blueboy1891' says MM is “dangerously thinning the squad at a crucial time”… so we're probably screwed.

(sorry blueboy1891, I can't help reading your ranting posts — especially the bits in CAPITALS).
