Cup Replay Live on BBC
Wednesday, 7th Jan 2015 10:00

Town’s FA Cup third round replay against Southampton at Portman Road on Wednesday 14th January has been chosen for live coverage on BBC One. The match will now kick-off at 7.55pm.

The Blues and Saints fought out an entertaining 1-1 draw at St Mary’s on Sunday with Darren Ambrose netting his first goal for the Blues in almost 12 years.

The clubs will each receive a £72,000 broadcast fee. Town’s last live appearance on BBC One was the derby at Norwich in November 2010, while the second leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final at Arsenal in January 2011 was on BBC Two.

Home tickets for the game are selling quickly with queues outside the ground and online this morning as supporters look to secure their seats. Details of the priority scheme and pricing can be found here. Season ticket holders now have until 9am on Saturday to reserve their seats, while general sale starts from 9am on Friday.

An overall sell-out seems unlikely, however, as the Saints probably won't take up their full allocation. Portman Road's last sell-out was the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final with the Gunners, also in January 2011.

Just think that TV money is nearly five times more than the transfer fee's paid for the team

Excellent news. Just hope we put on a good show and this doesn't put undue pressure on the team or affect our 'under the radar' status. Looking forward to Mick's pre-match interview already though!

Just checked and the Arsenal game was on BBC2, which was why it didn't come up when I looked for BBC1 matches as per the story. Have added the Arsenal line to the story.

When do tickets go on general sale online tomorrow? Will it be 00.01am, or something more like 9am?

Hhhhmmmm......................

I wonder how many tickets we will give Southampton?
Will we give them the stand (sir alf Ramsey) behind the goal like they gave us. (it will only be fair)

Will the tickets be the same price?
Let's hope so, then I'm sure there won't be an empty seat in the stadium.

Great stuff. Being stuck up north, it's very welcome to see us play any chance possible. I don't worry about not selling tickets though. Surely at £10 a person to see us play a good Premier League side, we can hit 20-25k attendance comfortably. It'll be interesting to see if we go with a similar line up or go with our usual first team, now that the camera's are there.

Ticketing details added to the story. Southampton could have been given more of the Cobbold Stand but didn't take the additional seats. They're unlikely to sell their allocation anyway, so probably won't be a sell-out overall, even if it is for seats available to Town fans.

Flewitt85...I do hope you are joking with your post, as all of your questions are already answered?

Aside from that, buzzing at this news.

@Flewitt85 - I'm not sure fairness will come into it. With Suffolk Police's regular attitude that every football fan is a hooligan I dare say it will be the usual extension of the away accommodation in the Cobbold Stand, as well as closing Portman Road to home fans just in case we fancy a riot *rolls eyes*

I hate people who moan about 'armchair fans'. Some of us don't have the means to go to everygame, doesn't make us any less of a supporter
