Town Seeded in Cup Draw
Thursday, 13th Aug 2015 13:33

Town are amongst the seeded teams for tonight’s draw for the second round of the Capital One Cup.

The Blues reached the draw for the first time in three years by defeating Stevenage 2-1 in the first round at Portman Road on Tuesday.

The draw takes place on Sky Sports following this evening's Doncaster-Leeds tie.

The winning teams from round one are joined in the draw by the Premier League sides not competing in Europe.

Surely this means we can't get the scummers in this round? Oh well that's stopped the Tuesday lunchtime game then as requested by Suffolk plod.

Hartlepool at home will do nicely, anybody other than another championship club.

Just 6 away grounds I have not been to on that list Barnet (went to old ground) Burton, Exeter, Oxford (went to old ground) Rochdale and York. Any home draw is obviously preferable and if away somewhere not too far away.

We could face the only team to ever beat us at home in a competitive European competition...

9,10 or 11 away would be nice for me.
But rather home tie with 6. They probably couldn't afford the travel so we can get a free passage to next round.

MeenoITFC - No sure how my post came across as emotional?
The whole nature of a 'seeded' and 'unseeded' draw is so that the teams within those groupings don't play each other.
I notice you have realised your mistake, so perhaps you now understand my original post :)

Dons, Nothants or Luton away would be sweet. The Dons used to have a steward that resembled a late 80s John Wark, last time we played them in league cup we could have done with him

Luton. But I reckon we will end up with Portsmouth or Brighton (twice in a week!)

Can some tell me how they actually perform the draw. Obviously a seeded team is drawn against and unseeded team but how do the decide the home / away. Obviously it must be more than a case of the balls in the bowl.

Flashblue - That's a very good point and I don't know, alternate maybe, though it's a total guess.

Erm, they put 48 balls in and first ball out for each tie is at home.

I think the list above is a little misleading as they've numbered both sides 1-24.

A home tie against anybody crap, please. York City would do.

SouperJim - But then both seeds and non-seeds would be mixed, thus removing the whole point of them being separated in the first place.....

They draw them out of two pots and then flick a coin to decide who's at home.?!?!?!

Any home game, gives the fringe players another run out and a chance of getting to the next round.
