Owner Evans 146th Richest
Friday, 22nd Apr 2016 13:59

Town owner Marcus Evans is the 146th richest person in the UK with his wealth having remained static at £765 million, the same level as last year, according to the 2016 Sunday Times Rich List.

The Rich List is based on "identifiable wealth"; land, property, publicly-quoted shares and other assets, but not bank accounts but not bank accounts to which they don’t have access.

Town sources have previously dismissed Rich List estimates of Evans’s wealth, which was claimed to have risen by £65 million between 2014 and 2015, as highly speculative.

3 'quality' players = 3 million
3 'quality' players contracts 20k per week on a 3 year contract = £9.36 million

In total = £12.36 million

Forgive me for being wrong, but didn't Keane/Jewell buy 'quality players' and we all know how that turned out.

Listen, Im not saying we need something a bit extra, but just burning money isn't the answer, we need look at all avenues to find the right players, not just the price tag players.

... And yet he still charges Premium prices, despite decreasing the quality of the product due to insufficient investment in the playing squad.

We are ME's neglected toy in the corner of his cupboard, hopefully a rich Arab kid will visit one day and blow the dust off us and wanna play properly?

Interesting that Steve Gibson Middlesborc chairman was 451st in the list in 2012 net worth approximately a third of Evans, yet which club has invested heavily on last season and where are they heading now? Marcus you are a businessman, are you going to speculate to accumulate?

People who thinks ffp is the reason Evans doesn't put money into the club are leaving are simply wrong he is using the club as a way to not pay so much tax he has done nothing for the club we are deeper in debt and has run the club into the ground it is now worthless .
I sit on a seat that is unstable the pitch is a disgrace we don't even paint the turnstiles anymore Evans OUT and take that idiot McCarthy with you

OK so he's rich and I perfectly accept that the failure to buy has not helped our situation,
but are we all so sure it's ME being tight or is MM so convinced that he's got the right players that he doesn't ask for money. If its the latter then that worries me more.

However I can't get my mind round that if MM definitely wants to manage a premier club, and he's not being given any money then he must know that he will not be able to buy. Therefore I cant see why he would sign a contract for extra 2 years. If he's that ambitious then that simply wouldn't be acceptable Unless of course he knows his own limitations which is that he's a Championship Manager at best, that its cushy at Ipswich and the only trouble he gets is a few discontent yokels. That then goes hand in hand with some of the players knowing they would also never make in the the Prem league; end result we stay where we are.

What I would simply like to know is: is there a reasonable sum of money this summer or not. Who is telling the truth ME or MM.

My own opinion is swaying toward the theory that MM believes his own hype in that he can do it on the cheap. Certainly he's arrogant enough to believe it. However the downside of this season is that certain players even in the lower leagues may well now be aware of the type of football we have been playing and decide its not for them, even if asked.

We need to change our style, to bring back the supporters, make players want to come here because we play open and attacking football and honestly the only way to do that is a young modern thinking manager in charge. Then maybe ME will invest more. Not sure if i were Evans I'd trust MM with your money let alone mine.

I'm contemplating having one big blast at it and spending 100 million in the summer just to see what happens.

I've tried the constant spend route, failed
I've tried the no spend route, also failed

There's only s**t or bust left to try

ME is doing good for us, we are financially stable, on the fringes of the playoffs, have highly promising youngsters coming through the Academy and one of the most experienced and successful managers on the football league. Our current position is down to the players - loss of form, lengthy injuries, defence less secure. Be patient people and it will all come right at some point.

To all you wingers on here. What would have happened to our club if Evans had not invested when he did? Would we still be solvent?

I know how Evans can get even richer. Sell the club to someone who
understands football and who is a genuine fan who will invest real money. The first thing any decent owner would do is to get rid of Boring Billy

To be honest I think if he gives Mick a 5,6, mill kitty next season that would sort us out.
We have good young talent coming through the ranks, McDonnell, Dozzell, Clarke etc.
He's got to try & sign Fraser or a Fraser type player, Matty Holland type midfielder who gets u a goal from midfield & wears the shirt with pride, Bishop would be my other option if he stays fit.
It's time for players like Toare & Coke to step up some gears & get them selves recognised for next season. Mick see's something in all his players they need to repay him & us with some good football next season.
As far as tactics Mick has got to sort it out & keep to a formation what works.
Mr Evans some money would be a bonus, Naki Wells if worth a punt if any of our strikers go in the summer👍🏻

That's right, problem solved. Sell the club, Evans, to a proper football fan who will invest loads.
Just one snag...who?
You lot live in cloud cuckoo land.
Evans frustrates me because he handed so much money to Keane, Jewell, Clegg and, to a lesser extent, Magilton and they delivered naff all.
But, without him, we might be Portsmouth right now. And don't tell me at least they play good football because that's a judgement based on two games and they haven't been great since.
The problem is unless you can find a Peter Coates or the Doris up the road, you'll probably need foreign investment.
But who's going to buy Ipswich? For starters, you've got to buy out Evans, before you can even think about pumping in this magical, FFP-breaking investment that might get us promoted.
And what's the attraction? The crowds are down, the fans are supposedly revolting and there are plenty of other options out there.
Of course, I could be wrong. There might be someone out there who wants in but let's hope he's like the fella at Leicester and not the guys at Leeds, Cardiff and Hull.
Mind you, the name Ipswich Town is so last year and we've always wanted to play in red, right?

Perhaps ME can lend a few million to his mate Harry, who can then lend to his dog Rosie, the money can then be invested in a Panamanian bank account in an investment trust that can buy shares in itfc and raise some capital to invest in the team. Done deal no FFP issues.

Mr Evans maybe asset rich but cash poor,a thefigures do not show liquid assets like bank accounts;and with his assets being all round the world,it must be difficult to assess.

Some say that he rescued the club from financial oblivion;but I thought this had already been done following administration? The finances had been reconstructed with share and bond issues to supporters Own a part of ITFC?

RegencyBlue added 13:23 - Apr 23
I genuinely believe Evans has lost interest after buying the club thinking he could actually make money out of it!

Buy the debt at a fraction of its face value, invest a few million more to get promotion then pay himself off from access to the Premiership millions was obviously the plan but it has blown up spectacularly in his face.

Bet he wishes he had bought Southampton now.

patrickswell added 13:52 - Apr 23
Lightning boy - it's a sick joke that he's lost interest when in the last three years he's been as close to promotion opportunities as were managed at any point in his 8 years here. And all done on very little money.
