Leeds Midfielder Close to Joining Blues on Loan
Saturday, 21st Jan 2017 14:49

Town are close to signing Leeds United midfielder Toumani Diagouraga on loan for the remainder of the season, according to reports in Yorkshire.

According to BBC West Yorkshire Sport the 29-year-old is set to join the Blues but the deal is yet to be finalised.

Born in Paris of Malian descent, Diagouraga played youth football with Paris St Germain before moving on to Watford, where he made a handful of appearances and spent time on loan with Swindon, Rotherham and Hereford, who he joined on a permanent basis in 2008.

Spells with Peterborough, Brentford and Portsmouth (loan) followed, before he joined Leeds last January.

The 6ft 2in tall defensive midfielder is surplus to requirements at Elland Road having made only one appearance this season on the opening day and had been close to a permanent move to Rotherham, but that deal broke down this week.

why?! we've got skuse, douglas, hyam (and digby can play there) and we shouldn't start more than one per game...

Hallelujah! Someone to give Skuse competition for his place. We've only been saying this for about 18 months. Similarly, we were calling for a right-back, as were we for Chambers to play in his natural position, as were we for Bart to start...the list goes on.

Glad to see MM does really give a flying one what the fans think because it seems we do know what we're talking about after all!

People wanted a big name signing and at 17 letters that's quite a big name.

A Leeds reject on loan. What an utterly pointless signing.

Yet another loan, of someone who's failed in the lower leagues. Marvellous recruitment policy we have

If true looks like this player was going to be purchased by Rotherham;but we can only loan him, less money to pay out by the man with short arms and deep pockets.

Expect for him we are the lesser of two evils, being a bit higher in the table than the Yorkshire side

Just a general thought, if MM is going in Summer which looks likely then maybe loans to stabilise the ship are the way to go.

New manager wouldn't then have to inherit any more of MM signings and could effect 2017/18 squad themselves

Another loan! Great! That will help with long term planning. Five point plan? Where does that sit?

Yes, but he may be a proper defensive midfielder that does more then pass sideways and point. If it is a replacement for Skuse then great, if not then it is more money wasted, that we apparently have not got. We have enough defensive minded players in Skuse Douglas, Hyam and Digby. We need someone to control / boss the midfield and not do things that no one notices. I do have the worry that is is just another defensive squad player, although hoping to be proved wrong

We need a midfielder, not a defensive midfielder. We have about four of them.

This guy a lazy sod he can play but never seems to be consistent

Who? Not very inspiring but haven't seen him play so will reserve judgement till then but not holding out too much hope. However, he can't be any worse than Douglas can he! But I am however sick to death of loan after loan. If you get a player on loan and they play well it simply puts them out of our price range as other clubs then steam in and blow us out of the water with higher bids. Loan signings go straight into the shop window and thus it gives them a platform to attract other teams with more wonga! If we had of simply signed some of our best loan players in the first place they would be signed sealed and delivered! Plus if a player does well on loan it then gives the parent club a much stronger bargaining position should we then try and sign thereafter!

Honestly believe that ME will not buy anybody in this window apart from tiny punts on non league players.
He doesn't want to give MM money if he is going to be replacing him.
