Moore Completes Barnsley Switch
Monday, 8th Jan 2018 19:12

Barnsley have confirmed the signing of Blues striker Kieffer Moore on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

Moore, 25, is understood to have cost the Tykes a fee of £750,000 and will be paid nearly £10,000 a week at Oakwell, almost certainly more than three times his wage at Portman Road.

Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom told his club's official site: “Kieffer is an excellent addition to the side and we’re really pleased to bring him here. It’s a deal that the club has worked hard on and got done quickly, so I’m delighted with that.

"He’s a player in top form and will bring something different to improve the side. We were after a player of his qualities, who can offer something different and improve the starting XI.

"His height will trouble defenders and cause problems, but as a player he’s got much more in his locker and will score different types of goals.

"Kieffer has already been in the local area and knows South Yorkshire now, so I expect him to settle quickly and work hard to get into our team.”

The Blues signed Moore for £20,000 from Forest Green Rovers last January and he made 11 sub appearances without scoring.

The 6ft 5in tall Torquay-born frontman joined League One Rotherham in the summer and scored 13 goals while at the New York Stadium before being recalled at the start of the year with a number of mainly third tier sides keen on signing him on a permanent basis, in addition to the Millers and his new club.

Before any one says 'WE' got a good deal... Its Evans that got a good deal. 'WE' ie the fans will only see it as a good deal if the funds are re-invested appropriately in the first team playing squad.

Hopefully, as we've cashed in early, there's a few decent additions and a decent sell on percentage built into the deal. I still think we should've at least taken a look at him again as he's clearly not been the player this season that we saw caught in the headlights last season after jumping up 3 levels. Now he's proven himself a bit at the level below us and now just stepping up one level from that, I think they'll see a better player than we did in a blue shirt.

Good luck to him, better off being away from the current mess ITFC are in anyway. I'm sure Barnsley have more ambition and actually have aspirations of actually getting to the premier league!

Now, it'll be Drinan. 3 ten minute sub appearances, and off he'll go.

If Moore goes on to be an excellent player like say Jordan Rhodes, will folk slate MM as badly as they did RK? This is despite neither having much of a say in the sales?

Can't wait for Evans to sign permanent long term additions to the playing squad. Every penny needs reinvesting. Urgently.

Good luck Kiefer.

jas0999 - I think Keane has admitted he got the Rhodes decision wrong, so to say he didn't have much say in it, isn't quite right - it was very much his call.

......... another one bites the McCarthy dust. Shameful state of affairs throughout the Club now.

Good Luck Kieffer - keep hitting the back of the net, just like Marriot (another McCarthy reject) is currently, and predictably doing.

The sooner we change Owner and Manager the better, otherwise we may as well close it all down, and turn the lights off.

good luck, escaped the shiyt that this club has become

........ McCarthy will have earned Evans enough out of this to ensure an extension to his contract - that's all that matters to either these days.

Supporters, and Ambition for the Club, doesn't even register anymore.

........ as long as the mugs keep paying and condoning - nothing will change.

Pathetic comments....signed tor £20k, derided by fans before he kicked a ball
Now MM IS slagged off for making a £730k Profit on a player who's not good enough to replace Garner or Waghorn in the starting XI?
Either McCarthy was a genius to sign him or your argument falls flat

Having spoken to a lot of town fans that travel with us to home games it's looking ominous that with the present set up when those renewals land in the post not many this time are going to renew wake up Evans get rid of this idiot and get a younger guy in with some passion that can install some football to watch Do you know what that is you Yorkshire dinosaur.

There is no way Evans will reinvest 😂😂

@monkey, no argument about it, Barnsley have paid well over the odds for a div 1 player at best! That's where the lad will be playing next season! Good luck to him, scored a handful of goals and got his 'dream move'.....he'll disappear within 2 seasons!
