Town to Sign Neymar Lookalike Cotter
Friday, 26th Jan 2018 20:36

TWTD understands Town are set to sign Limerick right-back or midfielder Barry Cotter before the transfer window closes on Wednesday.

The 19-year-old, who has also played at centre-half, recently spent time on trial at Playford Road and the clubs subsequently agreed a five-figure fee.

Capped three times by the Republic of Ireland at U19 level, Cotter made nine League of Ireland Premier Division starts and two sub appearances for Limerick during the 2017 Irish season, his first-team breakthrough campaign.

Three years ago, when joining Limerick, Cotter went viral across the globe due to his resemblance to Brazilian star Neymar.

hahaha!...bet that's about where the similarity ends. Nice to see that all Town scouts are based on the emerald Isle. :)

That's good news, and a surprise as MM said in the press conference this afternoon that no one else will be joining this window.

I thought that we had a young right-back called Emmanuel. Where is he now?

Nice to see us signing someone . But suspect he won't get within a million miles of the first team if previous Irish signings are anything to go by !

Thats the spirit ArnieM, keeping it positive.

That scouting network or ours goes all that way to Ireland.......again! I'm not knocking this new signing, but really are we just incapable of looking elsewhere?

There was a young rightback called Cotter..
Who got caught by a lookalike spotter
"It's Neymar" they cried
When he joined the Town side
Now there's no chance he'll be mistaken again...

What's the point! Ok he's young and cheap but will only be loaned out and then follow in other Irish footsteps to lower leagues.

@ipswichbusiness I believe Emannuel is currently struggling to get in and/stay on a league one side....

...... christiand - Our 'Scouts' ... . obviously get Air / Sea sick any further afield than Ireland.

MM is looking after the boys of his Motherland - problem is most, if not all, are never heard of again once they arrive at Portman Road.

Always happy with signings.
As a bit of an aside-when was the last time we signed a right back who hadn't also played at centre back?!😂

....... and by the way Gcon - you qualify as an expert on negativity, your finger spends most of it's time on the minus button of anyone that posts any sense - so take a well earned bow.

Bet Phil thought a long time about this headline....a picture of Barry Cotter with "new transfer expected before transfer day" could have caused a stir lol.

Talk about pressure on the lad....when he plays his first game we'll be expecting Neymar...can imagine him getting some stick in training too. Wonder what his nickname will be....

Hope he does well...
