Bolton Targeting Nsiala Move
Wednesday, 8th Jan 2020 14:47

TWTD understands that Bolton Wanderers are eyeing a permanent move for Blues central defender Toto Nsiala.

Nsiala, 27, has been in and out of the Town side in recent weeks having recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered in pre-season.

The Kinshasa-born DR Congo international, who grew up in Liverpool, joined the Blues from Shrewsbury in the summer of 2018 in a double deal with Jon Nolan, following their former Shrews manager Paul Hurst to Portman Road.

In total Nsiala, who is contracted to Town until the summer of 2021 with the club having an option for a further season, has made 28 starts and five sub appearances for the Blues, scoring once.

If Nsiala’s departure for the Trotters is confirmed, it is likely to lead to further speculation that the Blues could look to re-sign former central defender Tommy Smith, who is continuing to train with the U23s at Playford Road having left the Colorado Rapids during the MLS close season.

Heard this 2 days ago, thought it was horse waffle though. Heard it is only a loan move though.

I think it could do the lad good for a fresh start.

He is a lovely man, met him a couple of times. Disguesting the way he has been treated on social, he'll know his own level of performance has been good enough.

He was by far our best defender at Pompey, prior to being pulled.

What an upgrade Smith for Nsiala would be

I take it that Bolton's finances are in a better state than they were earlier in the season otherwise I suspect this will be a loan. Would like Tommy Smith back but that depends on his MLS Status.

Probably in all parties' best interests, if the financial nitty gritty can be sorted. Sadly I think both his confidence, and credibility with supporters, are shot.

He may yet prove to be another one who got away, and then made good; but I wouldn't put a great deal of money it. He's been below par at this level, and would not cut it in the C'ship. But would wish him well, with a fresh start, if this move happens. He did his best for us.

If nothing else, he'd get a lot of practice at defending at Bolton.

Problem is Fatboy he can't defend!!! Absolute cart horse! Makes drissa diallo look like bobby Moore! Horrific signing by Wurst.. like most were! Move him on ASAP!

At times has been immense like Swansea away and is bigger and faster than rest of the defence often played on the wrong side just needs someone alongside him to guide like John McGreal did for Titus. It will bite us send Chambers instead

Hasn't done enough for us, and he won't be given the chance to do so by our impatient fan base. A move would probably be best for both parties.

Re: Smith. Love him to bits, but I certainly haven't forgotten the amount of errors he would make that would in goals conceded.

It's a shame as he was immense against Leeds end of last season but other than that been largely disappointing so may be good for both parties. Shame it hasn't worked out

We need to drive a hard bargain. No rush to sell.

I can't believe anyone is coming in for him! He may be a nice guy as people are saying but some say I am too, you wouldn't want me in your back 4 though!!!

He had a good start here at town but dipped in quality recently. Smith has always been a favourite of mine so this is a no brainer, wonder what the fee would likely to be considering how much we paid for him/Nolan?

It's s shame but the two times I saw him this season, he was very poor.

I hope he does well elsewhere
