Bury Town Youngster to Join Town
Friday, 22nd May 2020 12:55

Bury Town winger Ross Crane will join the Blues on a two-year contract in July having spent time with the academy this season.

The 17-year-old made 33 appearances and scored two goals for the the BetVictor Isthmian League North Division side during their 2019/20 campaign.

Crane was born in Ipswich and came through the AFC Sudbury academy before joining Bury, where ex-Blues striker and academy coach Alan Lee is on the board.

“[Academy head of coaching and development] Bryan Klug has watched Ross’s progress over the last year or so and he comes with Alan Lee’s backing as well,” Town’s general manager football operations Lee O’Neill told the club site.

“He’s raw and is learning the game but we will give him the platform to develop as a footballer.”

Meanwhile, Town have said that they hope to announce their new kits for the 2020/21 season before the end of June, the launch having been delayed due to the coronavirus crisis.

It's speculated that the new home strip will give a nod to the 1981 UEFA Cup-winning kit in what will be the 40th anniversary of that famous season.

Welcome to our club young man.Whatever you may sometimes read on here a vast majority of us are behind our club and are right behind you as one of players. Really looking forward to seeing you develop and one day soon gracing the first team.

Crane should give the whole club a lift!

I don't think Ross will be loaned out because at the rate we're going at we'll have no senior players left at the club under this selfish idiot £billionaire! We're led to believe that transfers for Downes, Wolfenden and Norwood have secretly been agreed and now Jackson doesn't want to sign another contract :( #EvansOut

Led to believe by who ??

mrmorisato added 15:07 - May 22
@Pencilpete I read in a national paper last week that the deals by the club are in progress...anyways its obvoius that we're resigned to losing Wolfenden and Downes from speculation from the whole of the season....regarding Jackson, its on this website reporting that contract talks have stalled :( btw if you didn't know a source close to me via inside the football club has told me that Norwood has a bit of a drug addiction problem. #EvansOut

Mrmorisato - What an utter load of horse sh**

Mr morisato , accusing one of our players of having a drug problem is a very low blow. I hope you have definite proof or you could end up being sued for slander. That would be a real shame for such a staunch town fan.

oldbri... "accusing one of our players of having a drug problem is a very low blow." - I don't think he specified what kind of drug, so saying it's blow is a bit of an assumption...

(this post is tongue in cheek, and in no way giving any credibility to the original comment)

Bergholt Blue Downes and Wolfenden were loaned out didn't do them any harm. Playing u23 football isn't going to get young players ready for first team football im afraid the standard is very poor.
