Evans on Target at Fulham
Saturday, 17th Jul 2021 21:17

Lee Evans was on target for the Blues in this afternoon’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Fulham at their Motspur Park training ground.

The fixture was played as two 45-minute training games with the first ending 2-1 to the Championship side and the second in a 0-0 draw.

Evans scored his first goal in a Town shirt via a free-kick, while Fabio Carvalho and Aleksandar Mitrovic were on target for the Cottagers.

As at Dartford last week, Town appear to have fielded a senior side in the first half and an U18s team in the second.

Photos from the game are available on the Town and Fulham official websites.

Town are next in friendly action against Stevenage at Needham Market's Bloomfields on Tuesday afternoon (KO 1pm).

Meanwhile, an U23/U18 team drew 1-1 in a friendly against Leiston at their Watson and Hillhouse Stadium with new first-year scholar Fin Barbrook the Town scorer.

^ We've played two friendlies, both obviously for fitness (it's July). Get a grip.

Who the fudge uses the really unfunny terminology of ‘Not' anymore, 1997 is calling dirtydingusmagee, your ‘humour' is waiting.
Great to see Evans get on the scoresheet, it all builds up the confidence for the real deal.
It's a promising sign that we'll get a few goals from Midfield this season. Something we've been desperately lacking since the Tommy Miller days.

Three friendlies in and already moans.

For the ill educated on here; Friendlies are used to get players up to a certain level of fitness, blend new players into the team (we have many), to try old & new tactics, and basically prepare for the incoming season.

I for one don't care if we win or lose friendlies, they are just practice matches for the coming matches that matter.

So "dirtydingwhatever" calm down, take a breath, and think before you type, because then you might sound like someone who knows about football.

Fair enough to disagree, but shall we all try to do so in a reasonably polite way?

Agreed bluesteel and others who have called out those who seem to have to resort to personal and abusive comments to other members. It's getting worse, there's no need for it as everyone is entitled to their opinion and to disagree with others opinions but please let's do it in a respectful way.

As for the trolls that are on here, my advice is just ignore them.

I agree with ipswichbusiness disagree ok - but be polite!!

However, if you have played football at any level, you know that preseason games mean absolutely nothing.

Truth and Reality will out very soon - personally I think we need a more quality through the door, before we start to expect too much !!
Will we get it ?? - before the business starts.
Goals win games, friendlies or otherwise, as we all know to our past detriment.... !!!

Cant believe that anybody who knows anything about football reads any significance into preseason friendlies! plus its a virtually a brand new team one half and the other is made up from the under 18's get a grip, i have known many seasons when we look great in preseason only to struggle when the real thong starts... the results mean nothing!
