Town Sign Australian Trialist
Monday, 27th Sep 2021 13:08

Town have signed Australian trialist Tete Yengi on a one-year deal with an option for a further season.

Yengi, 21, signed on the dotted line at Portman Road last week from A-League side Newcastle Jets.

We understand Yengi, who is on the bench for the U23s this afternoon, came to Portman Road via a connection with Town's Australian head of sports science Andy Costin and has been at the club for a fortnight.

Yengi played youth football with Croydon Kings and hometown side Adelaide Comets before joining the Jets on a scholarship in December last year.

The 6ft 5in tall central striker, wideman or attacking midfielder’s older brother Kusini plays for Adelaide United.

Seems to have a good eye for where the ball needs to be. Could be a decent signing with the right mentor.
Welcome aboard, Tete.
BTW, how do we accurately pronounce his name?

Be one for next season as I think the squad has already been sent to the EFL so I don't think he can be added unless someone leaves. Looks to be clever with his feet could be one for the future reminds me of Edwards

If he can score a goal from a corner kick, he would be worth every penny (I do hope we are working on corner kicks in training).

Jewell: I guess he is Pacific Islands. I have worked there for 6 yeaars so I would think its pronounced Tetay.
This guy could be useful with his height.

Brendenward. Depending on when he turned 21 he could possibly play. If he was under 21 on new years day he doesnt have to be named in the 25 man squad.

liking this lad ! looks like he can run at defences and his height could be very useful, him & Dobs could really tangle up defenders . Welcome to Town Tete, really hope we get to see you in first team ASAP..

Born Nov 28, 2000, so would be 21 on New Year's Day. Therefore not eligible as a youth player.

He is not 21 yet so surely does not have to be on list?
