Wycombe Confirm Vincent-Young Signing
Thursday, 13th Jul 2023 20:51

Wycombe Wanderers have confirmed the signing of Blues full-back Kane Vincent-Young.

TWTD revealed earlier this evening that the Chairboys were keen on the 27-year-old with the deal evidently already a long way down the line by that time.

“Kane is a fantastic athlete and a really talented player in a number of positions, so I’m delighted he’s agreed to join us,” manager Matt Bloomfield told the Wycombe club site.

“He’s been training with us for a few days and settled in really well, and comes with a great pedigree from his time at Colchester and Ipswich, as well as a strong upbringing at Spurs.

“I think our fans will love seeing him play as a fast, direct and attacking player down either flank and I’m thrilled to bring in another superb new signing to add even more strength and quality to what we’ve already got.”

Vincent-Young left Town after almost four years in May having joined the club from Colchester for £500,000 in 2019.

The London-born defender made an excellent start to his Town career before suffering an injury in his ninth game.

That knock and further subsequent injuries as he made his return saw him sidelined for the next 17 months.

However, the versatile full-back was never able to hit the heights of his early spell and in 2022/23 made only two League One starts in addition to 16 appearances from the bench, as well as another four starts in cup competitions.

Overall, Vincent-Young made 42 starts and 22 sub appearances for the Blues, scoring twice, in consecutive matches during his early games after his move.

Vincent-Young is the second released Town player to join the Chairboys this summer following centre-half Richard Keogh.

Shame but does make sense. Scored one of my favourite goals at PR from the last few seasons.

Best wishes to KVY, shame that injury blighted his time at ITFC. Should do well with Bloomfield.

Thought he was the bees knees when we first bought him, but he never recovered that form after 17 months out.

I wish him all the best at his new club.

Yep, wish him all the best. For a while I thought we had a bargain on our hands when he first signed. But he's been unlucky. It's a cruel profession sometimes. But he still has a bit to offer so all the best KVY

I wish KVY the absolute best of luck. I hope he goes on to play a full season, and wow's the Wycombe fans like he did for us in his first few games, before being hit by injury. Fingers crossed he gets a whole loaf of game time along with Keogh. Best of luck to the pair of them!

That's good for him and good for us,
Hope he stays fit and can prove himself.
My memories of him are vs Bolton against their U16s- he was good, I missed the Tranmere game when I think he scored and I then started to wonder about him at Southend away when we scrapped a horrible win and he looked defensively poor
Wimbledon away, did he get sent off ?- was the moment I thought he's not what we need< surprised he has not moved on sooner
He played at Barrow- there's not many left now, thank god, from that garbage.

Shame he left but to be honest he wasn't going to be in the team much now we're in the championship I was so excited when we signed him after seeing him against us for Colchester but unfortunately he couldn't keep it going

Hope he tears up L1 next season.

Was the most exciting player to join us in 2019.

Good luck

Never let Town down on his return from injury but as many have said he never got back to the form he showed when he first moved here

Best of luck to him

Good luck to him. He's a terrific player. Such a shame injuries cost him so dear, but hopefully they're in the past and he can enjoy his football now.

Yes he deserves to have a good few seasons, such a shame that he had that awful injury which took so long for him to overcome and get back to fitness, never the player that he was when he first came but still a reliable body to put in when needed, ultimate professional.
Best of luck Kane.

A quality player, good enough for the Championship IMHO but not quite good enough for the standards we now require. The fact that it is the right thing to release him is an indicator of how much we have progressed under McKenna / Ashton. I expect Wycombe to be very strong in the season to come.

Mick Mills tash. Not sure how him signing for wycombe is good for us. Not as if he's literally gone direct from us to them. We released him weeks ago.

Like so many talented players for some reason they seem to pick up injuries some serious and their bodies are never the same. Maybe with an extended run of games at a club like Wycombe he might retain some of his old form.

Wish him all the best with Wycombe if he recover the form he showed when he first played for us he could be a big asset for Wanderers. You worry if that will happen after his awful injury.

Give him a run of regular games and he'll do a great job. Good luck to him.

Cannot underestimate what a great signing this lad was ... what Burns has done for us now he began to do before his injury. Like others, I realise he has not YET regained the form he showed prior to these injuries, but I am hoping that he regains this form with a good long run in the team (Which an in-form Burns would never allow him here)

Very talented Player, that I feel is far more suited to the Championship than the Rough and Tumble of League 1.
Shame we haven't proved that.
Defence could be our Achilles Heel this season, without further strengthening.
Good Luck KVY with Wycombe Wanderers, and a new start.
