Enciso Set For MRI Scan Monday, 17th Feb 2025 15:00 Town loanee Julio Enciso is set to undergo an MRI scan on the injury he suffered at Aston Villa on Saturday but with the problem not expected to be serious, according to Dr Osvaldo Insfrán, the doctor to the Paraguayan national team.
Paraguay international Enciso, on loan with the Blues for the rest of the season from Brighton, was withdrawn in the 17th minute of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Villa Park in obvious pain having hurt his left knee.
Manager Kieran McKenna said afterwards, “It’s down the side of his knee, so we’ll have to wait for the assessment on that.”
According to Paraguayan website D10, Dr Insfrán, Enciso has been resting for two days before undergoing a scan on Tuesday.
“He felt a stitch in his knee, now has 48 hours of rest and on Tuesday he will undergo an MRI to determine the injury,” he said.
While cautious not to make too hasty a diagnosis, Dr Insfrán said the information he had had from England is that it is not expected to be a serious problem.
Enciso underwent two operations on the same knee in 2023 having torn his meniscus during training, sidelining him for six months.

Let’s hope it isn’t serious as he’s looked dangerous in both games he’s played so far.

Hopefully less serious than originally feared, as Enciso is a player who will improve our attacking threat and chances of survival.

He's a class above what we've got in his position and the sort of players we should be signing permanently if we are going to compete in the Premier league.

Fingers crossed for speedy return…..! It would be just our luck if that’s him done for the season. He looked to give us more going forward, something we’re gonna need in the run in…

When we lost him Saturday I feared the worst. He clearly sounded like he was going to be pivotal In the game. Everything we were doing early against Villa, he was involved. Fingers crossed he’s back soon. He could well be this season’s Sarmiento with a big goal or Two.

He is Sarmientoesque in his play and attitude, but even better quality.

Churchmans. I'm guessing ur psychic then? Story clearly says it's not expected to be bad, but u declare it as as bad as it could possibly get? And no, im not excluding the fact u could turn out to be right. But why say it when u don't know.

Let's look at it. Clearly upset when happened as knew what he had done. Have done my ACL and knee exactly what had happened when it happened. He has torn a ligament before is he knows what it is like. Must be bad if waiting a couple of days for MRI as they have to wait for swelling to go down! From that I would say months rather than weeks and possibly a season ending injury.

As the previous post said we don't know how bad it is but you get to know your own body and he was distraught when coming off. Our it could just be disappointment as he was having an influence early I the game and really wants to prove that he can be an asset here.

Hope it’s not serious! Would be great if he was fit enough for spurs game, could be our secret weapon
Kentish_Tractor added 10:20 - Feb 18
Planetblue - If it's serious enough that it requires an MRI scan - no way he's playing vs Spurs!

Fingers crossed, because we'll need him for these last 13 games, either as a starter or a devastating impact sub.

Churchmans. So the club don't know what the injury is. The doctor doesnt know what the injury is, only to say they're not expecting it to be bad. But ur source knows what the injury is? As isadmid in my original reply to you, I'm not discounting it could be, but if the club and the medical experts don't know what he injury is, ur source clearly doesn't. Just have to hope for the best tho, I guess.

Meniscus is the same as cartilage tear i had this happen to me many years ago and i saw the then Ipswich physio Brian Simpson. I had a lot of swelling and he told me there was not much he could do until the swelling went down. I was out for 6 weeks but in them days treatment was not as good then. I had to do a lot of weight training to get fit again and now im in my seventies im suffering with a little bit of arthritis.

I forgot to mention i did have a reaccurance of my knee injury and it wasn't serious it was diagnosed as a nipped cartilage and i was back within 2 weeks as far as i remember but was given a series of knee strengthening exercises that i still do to this day.
