Six Clubs Eyeing Hutchinson - Report
Tuesday, 24th Jun 2025 17:40

Everton, Brentford, West Ham, Fulham, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are all reported to be eyeing Blues forward Omari Hutchinson.

The 21-year-old has done his reputation no harm with his displays at the U21 European Championship in Slovakia, helping England to a semi-final against the Netherlands in Bratislava on Wednesday evening.

According to a rather speculative piece in the Daily Mail, those performances have attracted the interest of the Toffees, who are said to see him as a target, while the Bees, Hammers and Cottagers and Bundesliga pair Dortmund and Leipzig are all monitoring the one-time Arsenal academy youngster’s progress.

Town, who earlier today secured key defender Dara O’Shea on a long-term deal, will want to keep hold of Hutchinson, who signed on a permanent basis from Chelsea last summer for a club record initial £20 million plus a further £2.5 million in top-ups.

However, the matter may be taken out of their hands if a club - and whether there is anything in the clubs currently linked it seems likely there will be those interested this summer - matches the £35 million relegation release clause included in the five-year deal the Redhill-born attacker signed last summer.

Personally I don’t think he covered himself in glory in the premier league, a few good games but more often than not he looked a little out of his depth, which is understandable as he is very young but he needs more games with us!

Cant see him going…..maybe Jan window if things are not going well………..would not be surprised to see a new contract offered if he is happy to stay at Town

If someone meets the £35 M he will go. If someone does match it, it would be an excellent fee for a player with potential, but who struggled in the PL. fitness a key issue. Would like him to stay as it would be yet Another player we would need to replace. He would be exceptional at championship level!

If we get a bid of £35M, then that is going to be very hard to turn down. We are well covered with Ogbene, Philogene & Burns all worthy of a starting place. Don't want him to go, but at least we have quality to come in.

@MK1, if we get a bid of £35m, that is going to be contractually impossible to turn down.

Dont think he will go.
Tear up the Champs this year.
Then the EPL the next and he is still only 23.
That is where the big money will come in.

Whilst I take anything the Mail report with a huge pinch of salt if it turns out to be true I hope it happens quickly so we can plan to replace

Would be a real asset in the championship but I stand by what I said I don’t think on what he produced on the pitch last season was great he struggled at times to make an impact!

He is playing really well in the U21's Euros. He is a young player who can develop with Town. He will be sorely missed if he goes, but his head may ne turned by other Englanf team mates contracted to the "bigger" clubs.

Why would you go to West Ham (outsiders for the drop}, Brentford { new manager and loos of best players} or Everton, {new ground} also in his words, needs to play to move on.

Dissboyitfc: I get what you're saying, but maybe a large proportion of the blame fir poor or I'd say ineffective performances lay more at McKenna's door than the players, because Inari ISNT a number 10,and Mckenna constantly played him in that role when he clearly performed better when played wide. Its this blinkered view / approach h by Mckenna thatvteally annoys me and I think is his major weakness. I hope HE has learned from last season.

Dortmund is seen as a stepping stone to Real Madrid or Bayern... he would do well in Germany.

Cloddyseedbed. So ur judging Philogene on 10 appearances, mostly as a sub, playing in an unfamiliar role to him , in the hardest lge in the world?

Arnie I in return see and take on board your very valid points! However on too many occasions he was so easily dispossessed on other occasions he failed to get the shots off which were his trade mark in the championship. He is going to be a top player but has a very long way to go!

Hate to say it,but I believe it's almost certain either Hutchinson or Davis will leave us.Flip of a coin as to which one ?

Based on his recent appearances for the U21s, Hutch is far too good for the championship. Based on Philogenes performances last season, he's not an adequate replacement. Admittedly most of his work was done tracking back. We've yet to see him as an offensive threat. Davis leaving would be disappointing but not catastrophic, as I already believe that Townsend is the better of the two. O'Shea signing this contract is good news, but I'd still expect him to leave next summer should we fail to challenge.

Love Omari, but feel like he needs to stay in the prem league now for his development. We want to sell it seems so it is a win win, someone cough up £35m and we move on and sign the next promising youngster to develop

I'd say 35m is good business on our behalf. brilliant player but we have plenty of wingers who can get us promoted so he is a luxury at this stage of our journey.

blues1. Yes that's right I am. Hoping to be proved wrong this coming season though. I think Villa did a good job on us with him, we got tucked up. He looked lightweight with little workrate and not a team player. Certainly nowhere near a Premiership player. To my mind it was 20 mil wasted when we already were struggling with our physicality. Like I say, hoping to be proved wrong.
