The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 17:10 - Nov 22 with 50617 views | catch74 | 3-2 England Roit and Cook to nullify Warner and Smiths runs, Woakes to surprise with wickets and runs plus Ali to outperform Lyon. Malan or however you spell his name gets more runs than thought too. I can dream.. Oh and Bairstow def better keeper batsman than Paine.

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 17:14 - Nov 22 with 50611 views | localboy78 | 3-2 Australia. Them to win the first three, then their bowlers to break down like a Trabant on the Eiger. Moeen will score one beautiful hundred in Melbourne. Smith may get several however.

Unless it’s going to rain, that assumes two tests last the distance. Can’t see either of these sides batting that well, let alone in the same test when one of them will be up against it.

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 17:39 - Nov 22 with 50569 views | Ftnfwest | 4-1 aussie. Their batting is fairly ordinary but there's too much pace in the bowling for our lot to score big.
The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 17:42 - Nov 22 with 50567 views | jimsymBLUE | 3-2 Australia, although nothing in the batting line up's think their bowling is too good for us. Smith leading run scorer (521) Hazelwood leading wicket taker (27) Stokes to return in Adelaide. This game.... Australia in 5 days I'm off on me holibobs tomorrow so probably up all night watching 1st day.

Australia, for a country with good weather in the summers, have more draws at home than you'd expect Just had a look... Since 2013 there have been 32 tests in Australia. 7 of those have been draws. So I still reckon one of these five will be drawn. 3-1

Fair dos. Good stat. What’s our equivalent for away tests?

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 17:50 - Nov 22 with 50549 views | EastTownBlue | What concerned me with the previous Ashes series a couple of years back was England losing badly in the friendliest batting conditions (Lord’s & Oval). I can’t see the current team changing that situation much. Another one here for a 4-1 defeat.
The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 17:56 - Nov 22 with 50542 views | Jonnosdreadlocks | 2-1 to the Poms. Draw in Brizzie, Cons win Perth, Poms win Adelaide, Poms win Melbourne, Sydney draw

Looking for those draws I found this picture taken during the washed out third test against the Windies a couple of years ago. Bloody hell, the Steve Waugh statue is worse than Fulhams Michael Jackson one! http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-west-indies-2015-16/content/image/958619 And in honour of that, I change my prediction to 2-2. Cheers.

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 18:25 - Nov 22 with 50493 views | SaleAway | I'll either find a stream, or be on TMS tonight - not sure how late though - probably depends... last time I did this it really wasn't worth staying up for! I really don't know enough about this aus team to make a good prediction but in the spirit of things. 0-0 Brisbane - weather assisted draw ( if we draw here we're setup well) 1-0 Adelaide - win ( anderson to swing it around under lights) 1-1 Perth - lose ( comes crashing down around us in the usual fashion) 2-1 Melbourne - win ( by this time aussie pace attack has fallen apart) - ashes retained 2-2 - Sydney - lose ( in typical english style, every high must be followed by a low)

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 19:42 - Nov 22 with 50405 views | Steve_M | 3-1 Australia, suspect home advantage will just edge it but the same scoreline in reverse is more than possible. Good start needed, 517/1 sort of territory that makes a real statement.

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 21:34 - Nov 22 with 50321 views | bontcho | Australia 4-0. Just feel their bowling will overpower our batting in their own conditions. Obviously hope I’m wrong.

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 22:15 - Nov 22 with 50275 views | Nthsuffolkblue | Not sure about the outcome. Will simply enjoy following. Think Root will be OK but will he get enough support around him? If Stokes becomes available during the series it would be great but I guess it isn't likely. How do Anderson and Broad tend to do with the ball that is used out there? Much will depend on how the inexperienced players on both sides do. Lyon has put a lot of pressure on himself by his comments.

The Ashes 2017/2018 Thread on 22:58 - Nov 22 with 50223 views | Gogs | I really don't know, as I don't think either side is very good. There appears to be some weather about in Brisbane, and when the occasion arises it really knows how to rain there, it rains so hard you can barely tell if it's going up or down. So I'll go for a draw there. Then comes Adelaide, perhaps England's most realistic chance of a win, and I'll take us to do just that. We always lose in Perth, so 1-1. Then Melbourne and Sydney, if we look fairly even going into them (and I hope we do, assuming we're not stuffing the Aussies out of sight), I'll take us to win in Melbourne and lose in Sydney, If we're looking distinctly second best, Australia will win both, but if we're looking the better team and/or their quicks get injured (as they're prone to) we could take it 3-1. If weather doesn't play a part there should be a result in all 5 tests. If I had to stick my neck on the line I'll go 3-1 Australia, just because I'm a pessimist and I've seen it all before
