Before anyone starts I’m not suggesting him as manager, I’m not saying they’ll never concede or win the league...

BUT

Sky sports news have run a piece on him/Charlton using drones in training, so as soon as training finishes he can go in and access the session from above, watch back how close the players are, off ball movement etc etc...

He ended it by saying along the lines of - if we don’t try new things we stand still, standing still you achieves nothing, but if you try new things and even if it doesn’t help atleast you’ve tried to improve

Imagine firstly MMs reaction to a drone above head in training, and secondly ME putting his hand in his pick to buy the drones for the club

it would get expensive constantly replacing the drones for our training sessions!

I know it's a joke but Ipswich use WyScout and others pretty extensively.

I think Mick needs to start with basic ideas on 08:15 - Jan 9 with 6738 viewsunstableblue

Such as passing, movement, options off the ball, runners to pull defenders out of position,
Etc

Drones are a little advanced I’d suggest.

It's just a scouting platform that lets you watch games basically anywhere in the world, replay them with event tagging etc. Think Mick mentioned that they watched Knudsen through it for example.

Whether they use them to their full potential is a different matter.

I'd be surprised if most teams in the top two divisions at least didn't do this, they just haven't publicised it.

I play (very) amateur rugby, and a lot of training sessions and games are filmed by clubs across the leagues by drones for coaches to review/have ideas of grandeur. If the away team wants to film a game at our place, we have to agree ahead of time - which we agree to in exchange for a copy of the tape.

Sounds a bit like tech for techs sake, but I like that he is trying new things.

Would have thought you could have done similar for the past few years from the smart 'vests' that players wear in training.

Evans bought Leadbitter Priskin Taylor Bowyer, loads of useless drones.

Modern methods eh?

Mick has his strengths, don't get me wrong, but a modern, progressive, forward thinking attitude is not one of them. He is so out of touch with the modern Town fan that we will never see progress (I don't necessarily mean promotion) as club with him at the helm.

For the sake of balance the club aren’t quite as backward as some make out.

Outstanding, if not predictable from you.

Reckon Robinson used it to beat MMs team 6-1 pre season though

The Nike Academy use drones at St George's park for tactical and positional sense. A lot of logic to getting a different perspective on the game I reckon. When Allardyce brought in nutritional science and different training methods people were a bit wary but an Everton player (forget who) said how the methods he still adopts has rejuvenated his season. Perhaps it works both ways - no hiding on the pitch when there's a drone above.
