Given that we signed Douglas I dont think being useless is necessarily a game changer! [Post edited 9 Jan 2018 15:27]

Douglas in his first season, or very least the first half of the season wasn’t useless and on paper made a lot of sense. Cotterill has just failed at almost every club he has been at

How can someone who has played 400 games failed at every club they have been at?!

No he doesn't. Drinan is a central striker & Cotterill plays right midfield. [Post edited 9 Jan 2018 15:40]

They do enough to convince another club to take them on, rinse and repeat. And a manager takes a chance on someone with a good pedigree. Maybe fail was overly harsh, just not been very good at any of his clubs imo and certainly not in the last 5 or 6 seasons

Cotterill spent a lot of his career as a wide forward, almost 100% so in his early career and the first thing Mick said about Drinnan was he ‘could’ play wide. So, i’d say they are similar in that sense | | | | Login to get fewer ads

So, if both can play wide forward and our current manager referred to him as that, they might not both be needed? Just repeating what our manager said about Drinnan. Take it up with him.... :)

That's ridiculously over the top. Cotterill was certainly a decent Championship player, not spectacular but decent, capable of a few goals a season and good use of the ball. Whether he still is or his fitness has gone is another matter.

Two big fees (relatively) 10 years ago at Wigan and Sheff Utd and drifted really since then. As i said, maybe harsh, but always thought he very much flattered to deceive and definition of average journeyman. About 13 clubs and counting?

Town after David Cotterill ... on 16:48 - Jan 9 with 6586 views | PhilTWTD | My general rule of thumb is that if there's a long list of clubs mentioned in that manner a story probably hasn't got much in it, is just an agent getting his player's name out there. Think there was some interest in him a few years back though. I know Russell Osman knows him well from his days as a youth player at Bristol City and I think he suggested him as a target to whoever the manager was at that point.

Fewer than that, been pretty consistent from when he went to Doncaster in 2012 until the last year or so. HE might not have reached the level of early hype but hardly dreadful.

Indeed. Anything in the offing at the moment (except departures)? Linked with 2-3 strikers now, reckon it's just agents touting our name about, or possibly McGoldrick being off and we're looking to replace?

Is this really the level we are at ? We have just pocketed a decent fee for Moore and yet we are sniffing around in the bargain basement , I would rather we brought our own youngsters through . Please no more loans of players like Iorfa who is no better than our own Emmanuel . My only hope is that maybe ME is saving his money for when a new manager comes in , hopefully very soon .

I’m convinced we’ll see nothing of this new lad, u23’s then fades away.

That's generally the case with the Irish boys - think I saw him at Grange Farm Tesco today driving a nice 17 plate Merc so he's investing his new wages wisely!

Not that I’d be overly fussed if we signed him, but 55 goals in 427 games is not a bad return for a winger.
