Come on England 08:20 - Nov 2 with 5864 viewsonlymehere

I’m not a great fan of rugby but as I get older I find it a good sport to watch on tv well explained and we could well be World Champions in a very competitive sport.

Going to be a titanic battle up front, but we can match SA and, IMO, we have a better set of backs than them.

Good luck England.

If we don't get involved in a brawl with them, we will move the ball to fast for them, they will give a lot of penalties away, if it's a brawl it may be SA

A lot is going to come down to the kicking today from both sides. SA have a game that can and could negate England's, England won't have the same advantage at the breakdown they enjoyed over NZ.

It's a fascinating contest of contrasting styles.

If we keep it anything like as clean as we did against the ABs, then that will give Eng a massive edge.

Not an ideal start, losing one of our best ball-carrying forwards (even temporarily) at this early stage.

England pretty fortunate to be only three points down at this stage, struggling to impose anything on SA.

This ain't a classic so far is it? Speaking from the view of an occasional rugby watcher.

This could end up being a case of the last team with 15 still standing goes on to win.

I like that boring games are usually described as "intense", it's a better sell than when we have to describe crap football matches are "cagey/tactical".

This must be how it felt for attractive rugby sides In the past when England used to drag them into the trenches and beat them 12-9 In a penalty competition.

Poor half. Summed up when they didn't score when only a metre from the line.

They are painting the Gateshead Millennium Bridge.

(to be clear, they aren't actually repainting the bridge, but painting a picture of it)

I'm literally choosing to watch paint dry.

Yeah, but rugby players don't shout at the referee, or something.

Very poor entertainment but you have to hold your hands up and say fair play to SA. Them's the rules. Their defence has also been proper, proper good. So quick to the ball.

How can you tell the difference between a good rugby match and a bad one ?- they all involve chasing eggs, pointless scrums the thrower always wins, pointless throw-ins the thrower always wins, running into a wall of people and hoofing it 1980s Wimbledon style.
