Of course.

I shall own my argument then. I've made it often but in short, I don't like the way the EU is going - Superstate absorbing all.
I think we need to revert back to a place were we have identity, REAL identity, not that given by Brussels, and can act as a group and on our own.

There is now too much, getting greater, centralised control.
We are being moulded by others to suit their centralising agenda.

We ought to book a room, not you and I footers that would be weird! I mean TWTD. Get a large room above a pub and have a friendly chat about this and politics.
I think it would be fun.

We'd all get a better idea of the real people behind these avatars and one dimensional and short posts.

I shall sit back and watch the arrows from the usual suspects whoosh harmlessly by and into next doors roses.

Liam Fox, who said trade deals would be easy and one of the things that being in the EU stops us from doing, has now said, we don't need to focus on trade deals but look to expand exports to non-EU countries, just like France and Germany do...

They must think we're utter idiots...

That's not really any argument, is it - beyond some scare story stuff. And it matters little who is putting forward their own argument. It is the validity of those points that matters. Something you and the rest of the brexiteers have fallen well short off, on a consistent basis,

Now why not tell us why pretty much everything Johnson and others claimed before the election is now falling apart ?

There won't be a deal with the EU by Dec 20202, there will be customs checks wibetween GB and NI. So nothing really is 'getting done' bar you numpties who fell for these lies.

|You lot do like to sit back and throw toot at what can only be a short post.

I was cooking supper as it happens. The red has been breathing and is rather good.

So, where was I? I made my point in the time and inclination available.
Short, sweet, and a small portion of my own thoughts.

Where is that Callis person? The one who started the thread. Maybe ask him/her what their thoughts are? No?

I know it's so easy to answer a short repost with statements of your own, equally short. Maybe try and refrain from throwing stuff. Are you arms not sore?

Anyhow, this claret is rather nice and I have some Snowden Bomber and spicy red leicester to finish so I shall bid you tata....Enjoy your evening.

Assumption is to make an ass out of you and me. Those who assume they know you, when they don't are just guessing. Those who assume and insist they know are daft and in denial. Those who assume, insist, and deny the truth are plain stupid. Those who assume, insist, deny the truth and tell YOU they know you (when they don't) have an IQ in the range of 35-49.

It doesn't matter. What's the point?

You can find the headlines of the Daily Express online anyway. You don't need the likes of these idiots to repeat what they're told to think on here each day.

You haven’t owned your argument with respect to the point of the OP.

Even Brexiters admitted that there would be a period of economic disruption in the short to middle term, some said 5-10 years.

Brexiters in my opinion, ran a con on people by using large numbers like 350 million, and the BILLIONS we send to the EU. A small reduction in GDP, over, a few years, makes that number small in comparison.

That report seems inline with other economic forecasts.

In order to “own” the relevant argument, I think you have to show some proof that the country being poorer over the next 5-10 years, is somehow a good thing.

Weirdly, as an aside, when I talk to French, German, Dutch, Belgium people that I know, they don’t seem to have an Identity problem.
In much the same way a New Yorker, is still distinctly different to a Texan.

Anybody using the, “lost identity” argument is talking bollards.

Assumption, designed to make an ass out of you and me.

It's just a set of unknown assumptions. If you wait 5 minutes someone will publish a set showing the opposite.

Made me chuckle though. :-)

I don’t think anyone ‘owns’ the argument. In 2016 both Leave and Remain talked with such certainty and both talked rubbish. My own view at the time looking at all the info was that despite the corrupt, bent towards serving German and French interests, with the UK paying more than it received back etc etc, staying in and trying to reform it from the inside was the only sensible way to go.

My work for 2 years meant that I got to understand what Brexit truly meant. What I saw and experienced did nothing to change my view above. And while I think the EU approach to the UK was a disgrace, had there been another referendum, pragmatism would have made me vote Remain again because it’s all about jobs, incomes, livelihoods.

But the argument is done. People are still making projections and I think all will be just as wrong at those in 2016. There won’t be ‘a deal’ other than something BJ and the EU wave about on a piece of paper. There will in my view be a series of arrangements (‘deals’), many of which were in place 10 months ago. There is time to negotiate the tough bits (tariffs, standards, through-traffic etc) which won’t be easy, but I think that sanity will prevail and it’s actually do-able. For me, 12 months ago we were in a truly scary place. We are not now and the UKs negotiating position is much stronger, if handled properly. I hope I’m right - for once!
