The Sun nonsense has begun 22:50 - Feb 2 with 14930 views | tractordownsouth | https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/10873187/keir-starmer-earns-legal-advice-mp-pay/ It's hilarious how throughout every election, the right wing press falsely claims that Labour have a vendetta against the rich and people who work hard yet when Starmer earns good money for being a lawyer then that's awful too. I didn't see the outrage when George Osborne took a job at BlackRock, earning 600k for 2 days a week work... The quote from Tory MP David Morris claiming this means Starmer is "out of touch" is ridiculous... the bloke is the son of a nurse and worked his way up, it's not as if he was born with a silver spoon. And meanwhile Morris' wiki page shows that he denies child poverty in his own constituency. Classy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Morris_(Conservative_politician) Proves they'll dig up any old nonsense... [Post edited 3 Feb 2020 9:21]

The Sun smears have begun on 11:07 - Feb 3 by hampstead_blue | It could only have been the Guardian on Sat, Sunday Times, or BBC. That's my news I'll see if the papers are still here. Probably swimming with the worms |
Here was what was actually said, reported by most national newspapers At a speech to mark Brexit day, the shadow Brexit secretary said that the divisions between Leave and Remain must end, and made a passionate defence of EU freedom of movement. He said: “I want families to be able to live together, whether that’s in Europe or here, and I want people in this country, in the United Kingdom, to be able to go and study in Europe just as they can now, and people in Europe to be able to come and study here. “We have to make the case for freedom of movement.” Asked if he would bring it back if he were in No 10, Sir Keir said: “Yes, of course. Bring back, argue for, challenge”. What you have done, as ever, is to spin that into something different by adding stuff that he never said. A clear continuation of all that has gone before regarding brexit. [Post edited 3 Feb 2020 12:03]

The Sun smears have begun on 10:21 - Feb 3 by BrixtonBlue | I'm not even just talking about anti-semitism though. The fact that you're swerving all points only proves mine. That's fine, I didn't expect a leopard to change its spots. It's your loss. I wonder if you'll look back one day and think about all the time you spent posting essays that influence no-one and wonder if your time might have been better spent. |
Well done to you and DK for turning somebody else thread into an ad hominem attack on me. You talk about "my brand of politics" turning people off yet you were turned onto politics by a man who has lead his party into being the first since the BNP to be placed under a statutory investigation by the EHRC, has associated and supported all manner of terrorists such as the provisional IRA when they were blowing up innocent schoolkids outside of shopping centres, hung about with and supported some of the vilest antisemites, blood libellers and holocaust deniers, stayed silent as two of it's female Jewish MP's were driven out of the Labour party and apoinyed a team around him which are now being investigated for systematic bullying which lead to staffers considering taking their own lives. So I won't take any lectures from you on my "brand of politics" thank you. During the time I have been posting on Corbyn's role in enabling antisemitism in the Labour party and his support for terrorists, you have equally spent your time defending it and excusing it. So when we both look back on our time spent on here I wonder who will feel the most ashamed? [Post edited 3 Feb 2020 12:45]

We didn't have a referendum on free movement though, so the narrative that arguing for a return of free movement would be overturning the referendum is rather disingenuous at best.

"were Starmer stated that if he were PM he would ignore the referendum vote and allow free movement of people from the EU? "Harry states that KS did not say that, he is correct in that he did not say EXACTLY that" glad that is sorted out, but this bit is still a lie but it is true in it's intent as "Asked if he would bring it back if he were in No 10, Sir Keir said: “Yes, of course. Bring back, argue for, challenge”. Which is perefectly within his remit as PM. Just as it is within the remit of both houses of Parliament to vote on whether they agree with that. It has NOTHING to do with an advisory vote that may well have been taken a up to a decade previous. So stop making up stuff and perhaps have the decency to apologise for lying. We didn't have a referendum on freedom of movement, so he's not ignoring any referendum with his statement. Retaining freedom of movement was an option mooted before the referendum and remains an option for us should we so wish to pursue it. Still even after the Tories won a dangerously large majority you can't help but lie and misrepresent in order to push your warped political agenda. So disappointing. I'd hoped this would all stop after the GE but it seems your mind is poisoned.

I can't give a stone dead reference for.the quote. I'm happy.its what he said. We need to move away from black and white. He made that error. We are getting an immigration policy made for us by us. That ought to fairly include the EU. He chose to single them out in a discriminatoty manner, hence my post. EU is the.same as the world now. Why.are.thry different Keir?

Nope that i just another lie - do you ever stop ? I have checked (and posted here) what he actually said. As PM Starmer would be perfectly entitled to put before Parliament any legislation that would allow freedom of movement. That it would require Parliamentary approval disproves your lie about what he would do. Parliament has the power to change any law, so it is certainly not bound by a previous advisory vote - something you clearly don't understand. A lack of understandiung that has underpinned much of what brexiteers claim.

It is not about any supposed 'moral high ground' it is about basing your argument on fact. The brexit case has not been, hence the constant and proven accusations of lying by Johnson and others. Firstly, it's not an ad hominem attack. I'm not attacking any particular issue by attacking you personally, I'm only attacking your position with regards to politics generally. Secondly, you've been hoisted by your own petard here by claiming I was turned onto politics by Corbyn when previously you've ridiculed me for being turned onto politics by Russell Brand. That was way before Corbyn came along. Thirdly, I've stated it's not just about antisemitism. Your brand of gutter politics covers a wide range of topics. You've had a bit of a mare here really and I certainly won't be ashamed of supporting someone who wanted the best for all versus the Tory agenda. I will NEVER be ashamed for being the opposite of that.
