Huge fixtures tonight for us... 00:19 - Feb 25 with 5361 viewsMatt_Netherlands

Coventry v Rotherham
Oxford v Accrington
Portsmouth v MK Dons
Sunderland v Fleetwood

Can’t see Accrington or MK Dons doing us a favour. Guess a draw is the best result for the Sunderland and Fleetwood game? Could also see one of Coventry or Rotherham move well and truly out of sight, more so than they already are!

Wins for Oxford, fleetwood and Pompey would make the table look absolutely hideous, leaving us 4 points off 6th having played a game more.

Although we won away at their place.

That was sadly the highpoint of our season - we were looking nailed on to go up after that game, but that was as good as it got.

We played well there and fully deserved the win, in a top of the table clash - how did it go so wrong?

There was a break in league fixtures after the Fleetwood game and it seems that Lambert forgot how to manage and the players forgot how to play during that break.

It doesn't especially matter, tbh. If we miraculously put together an excellent run, we'll probably make the play-offs, if we don't, we won't. One round of results in February isn't going to be the issue, the 11 games we've got to play will be.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.

It really hit home to me when we beat Burton and then looked at the table and realised that we are miles off it

A lot of those teams seem to have clicked at the right time - whereas we have taken 4 points from 6.

Yup.

Our only chance is that we can go on a 6 wins in 7 kind of run ourselves... (Those who are currently on good runs won't be able to sustain them until the end of the season.)

If we can do that and are 2/3 points off play-offs (or better) with 2-4 games left, I still think we'll make the shakedown.

Massive "ifs" though, of course...

Oh FFS I give up.

We played well first half Saturday.

But no, you're right, it's impossible to play well in games but get few points for it.

I'd say it's impossible to play well over a 6 game period and only get 4 points from those games. The odd reasonable half is not really the same thing as "playing well" when it's in the wider context of another run of relegation form.
