Why is it fashionable to not like Liverpool? 22:14 - Mar 11 with 8328 viewsSitfcB

I always want to see the English sides do well in European competitions but always favour Liverpool more so.

They’re a bloody good side to watch on the TV and even the other year when they lost out on the title they were good, I was gutted for them when they didn’t win it.

Glad that they’re finally going to do it this season and will be good to them lift the trophy.

They get so much hate off the neutrals online though.

Because if people don't support their local team or birthplace team then surprise feckin surprise it'll be Liverpool or Manure, lad at work, 20, never been to Anfield EVER and talking to him is like no other Club in England even exists!!

Give me mid table League One any day over that...

(Well, Ok give me Championship any day )

"... they stopped Ipswich from being Champions of England"

What, with their going about winning more bloody games than us? Damn them, damn them to hell.

Your stories are from 40 years ago mate.

They're out of the CL so I'd be more than ok to see them win the League given that we all had to put up with Man U dominating everything for years.

Plenty good enough.

Well the question was why people didn't like them - so that was my answer

The visit to Anfield and the comment on how they minimise Heysel was last year, not 40 years ago and the comment about their style of play in the late 70s was a comment on why I don't like them, obviously influenced by supporting Ipswich who were generally second to them. The general persecution complex is completely up to date and the bahaviour of their fans? well that is every year, as per my original post and as demonstrated by the violence of their fans against Man City in the Champions league. All these are factors of why I don't like Liverpool FC.

Have you ever been to Anfield as a supporter of a team playing against them?

For me, it is my age. When I was growing up Liverpool were winning everything and moaned like hell if anything didn't go their way. A bit like Man Utd in the early 2000s. Don't hate them, just don't like them.

Have a family relation who is lovely. She married a scuser who is a dick. He will spend hours telling you how great they are and will spend about five seconds talking about anyone else's club with the standard response of 'your shyte'. He has no interest in football outside liverpool. He also thinks he is part of the Liverpool mafia and also never attends a match.

For the many family events he has ruined alone, I revel in any bad result that comes their way.

I have never understood this. Football is tribal. I couldn't give a sh1t if they are based in England or not, and never have done. Taken to its logical conclusion, you wouldn't want to see Norwich do well in Europe... would you?

International football is a different matter, but it doesn't stoke the same fires for me. I always root for England though. In recent times the team has been difficult to like so I've given less of a sh1t. It's been better under Southgate imo.

100% this.

Other English teams are our competitors (loosely speaking!). The enemy. F*ck them.

Support the foreign team every time.

I definitely don't hate them but one incident for me really sticks out.

Mid to late 80s Alan Hansen pulled down one of our players when he was clean through on goal. We had completely outplayed them. It was a clear sending off and because they were Liverpool, I don't think Hansen even got a yellow (could be wrong) but he should have walked.

Can anyone else recall this game? Who was clean through? Maybe D'Avray.

It was around 83/84 time mark brennan was clean through on the north stand goal and Hanson just hauled him over disgraceful behaviour and all we got was the free kick. The game ended 0-0. I dislike them but its probably worth remembering that back in the day their feeling was probably mutual as we were a constant thorn in their side.

Thanks.

Brennan would’ve scored.

Agree with this. But liked Robbie Fowler for some reason.
He is managing in Australia at the moment and acording to his WiKi page turned down the offer of 100 pounds a week to play for Blackpool in 2012.

Not quite on par with Socrates playing for Garforth Town in 2004 who signed for 1 month and played for free, but Robbie was always known for taking care of the money side. He has extensive property interests in the North of England.

So do I hate them.
LiVARpool have been so lucky this season with all the other tpp teams rebuilding.
Kloop is a bad losing clown. Anyone with a footballing brain would have picked Mane or Salah in goal. They are much better divers than Adrian.
Can't wait to see them win the PL behind closed doors.
It always happens to the poor scousers, my heart bleeds for them.

Lucky? They are 25 points clear and it's early March!

They are an awful club. I hate them.

Arrogant players such as Andy Robertson who thinks he is the new wave Roberto Carlos after one good season, disrespecting Messi on and off the pitch and them squirming and apologising when he got a load of stick.

Divers like Fabinho and Salah.

And they are very boring to watch, just get it wide and cross it. Very effective but there are loads of teams I would rather watch before Liverpool.
