Quite possibly. DMAC at PBoro has suggested cancelling league and carabao cup next season as one off to create space to catch up on fixtures. That could work at lower levels but not sure how Prem Clubs would find the space given European commitments as well.
One thing is for sure the betting companies are not going to be happy. Funny how football and horse racing seem to be the last sports to suspend their seasons. | | | |

The logical answer is that the close season starts now. Once the all clear arrives, we should finish the league season ASAP by playing twice a week & scrap the FA Cup. Also scrap the play-offs & just promote the 3rd team. A 2 week break & then get on with next season, again scrapping domestic cups & scrap international friendlies. The Euros will now be in 2021 anyway. |  |

If the season cannot be finished there is no solution that won't lead to a raft of disputes & litigation. This buys time to see how things will progress and, thereafter, to make decisions on whether the season is continued at a later date, terminated as it stands, or is voided altogether. There isn't a lot of precedent, as both the 1914 and 1939 seasons were interrupted very close to the start, whereas we are currently some considerable way through. Doubly so as clubs which have not tasted League success for some time are leading their respective divisions (Liverpool, Leeds, Coventry). | |
