So this season could be declared null and void? on 12:28 - Mar 14 with 1487 views | tractordownsouth | Nah, surely the simple solution would be to finish the season in September to November/ December, then each team plays each other once next season from January - May, with the Euros next year?

So this season could be declared null and void? on 11:22 - Mar 14 by BrixtonBlue | How did it work during the first and second world wars? Did they begin between seasons? |
How many clubs went bankrupt as a result though ? As I said it's about money ultimately, which I think means the only way you can continue is carry on at some point and just defer next season as long as you can, ultimately if this season takes 2 years to finish does it really matter? Maybe on contracts that expire in the summer but those could be extended via force majeure and transfer bans imposed to keep teams settled. Worth also saying part of the problem during the war years was the players generally went off to fight in those wars, and most didn't come back so teams had no one to play anyway. Plus all those expecting this as a one off...till a vaccine exists, and as long as it doesnt mutate like flu does annually, next season will just be similarly affected,

So this season could be declared null and void? on 11:35 - Mar 14 by J2BLUE | There is another way. Of course it will be opposed by a few clubs who will cry about it but this is a crisis and it would probably get voted through with a decent majority. Use average points per game to produce a final league table. Liverpool would be champions. Man U would lose their sh1t but it's a crisis. Watford vs Bournemouth behind closed doors for the third relegation spot. Leeds and West Brom promoted. Seems a fairer way to do it. A small minority of clubs with legit grievances would kick off but it's the fair solution for the vast majority. Declare the cups void. |
I’d go with this. It seems the only sensible way. If a few clubs lose out, they’ll get over it. If a few lower league clubs need bailing out, maybe the Premier League can do that? Fat chance. The problem will be how to keep these clubs going.

Can't we make it start from November 6th so our win at Rochdale gets included?

Don't know about WW1 but WW2 started in September and there were 6 games played.

So this season could be declared null and void? on 22:17 - Mar 15 with 1083 views | Radlett_blue | Apparently Sky & the other broadcasters have the right to claw money back form the Premier League if the games aren't played, which does seem reasonable. As I'm sure they are losing subscribers in droves, I expect them to enforce this.

So this season could be declared null and void? on 22:24 - Mar 15 with 1077 views | Freddies_Ears | Chances are that there will be no more games played this season, ie this side of July. Assuming no more games are played, any decision other than to void the season would lead to long, complex legal action, as any such decisions would be based on assumptions, or guesswork. Voiding the season would appear unfair to some, but it is at least justifiable as we do not know how things would have turned out. With best part of a quarter of the season to go, it is the only rational route. Sorry, Liverpool, Leeds and Cov. Haha, Norwich - you are condemned to another season of losing most of your games.
So this season could be declared null and void? on 23:56 - Mar 15 with 1045 views | monty_radio | Many Town fans had already consigned this season to the null and void category. Is it possible that M.E. would then be prepared to think of next season as P.L.'s intro to L1 and write off his possible intention to administer the order of the boot? Because, whatever happens, it's going to be both a novel and confused start to the season, and Evans might therefore might not want to add to that confusion by appointing someone new. All highly hypothetical, but that's the news arena in which we appear to find ourselves.

In what way do you think that they are lucky? Head in the sand mentality. I'm afraid that they're what a well run club looks like

Being stranded at the bottom of the table and then relegation gets scrapped is a little bit lucky don't you think? No idea what that has got to do with whether they are well run or not.
