Stephen Kinnock - am I missing something? 13:00 - May 31 with 12453 viewsChutney

Kinnock drove from Wales to London during lockdown, to celebrate his fathers birthday? What an absolute liberty. Given Starmers stance on Cummings and call for Johnson to sack him, why has he not taken the same approach with one of his own that he's been asking for?

Asked the same question and was slaughtered, Apparently it’s ok if you apologise for doing it!
Good luck on the incoming 😀

One thing is Kinnock has admitted and apologised to the breach rather than trying to slime his way out of it.

He is not a Tory so no one on here will condemn him.

It's a curious one, it's almost like peoples bias effects their moral compass, who would've thought it?

Cummings was in the wrong. Kinnock was in the wrong. Odd how one has dominated the board and media for so long and one is brushed under the carpet. The real strange one for me is why Starmer hasn't sacked him though, given he was so vocal in calling for Cummings to go.

Good on him for that, and shame on Cummings. He's a charlatan and I agree he should've been sacked.

I understood Starmers issue to be the act itself, given he came out so vocally and so early. So it seems incredibly hypocritical to not sack Kinnock?

Yes, to celebrate his fathers birthday in London. It's even less understandable than the circumstances around Cummings trip.

One rule for one I guess, Mr Starmer. It's almost like its all party politics point scoring nonsense, and it's not about right and wrong after all. Who would've thunk it.

They're a disgrace, they're all the same.

He can condone his actions and deselect him. If it's about right and wrong, and he was so vocal on the Cummings issue, why is he so quiet about this misdemeanour. It's incredibly hypocritical, no?

He said he was dropping essential supplies in to elderly parents, the same as Robert Jenrick (Tory) who hasn’t had a slating on here either.

He wasn’t travelling with Covid which is the big deal.

He'd still be MP until the next election. Only the constituents can 'get rid' of an MP between elections by the recall process. He could, I suppose, withdraw the whip.

It could also be argued that, as the misdemeanour took place before Sir Keir's selection as leader, it's was a matter dealt with by the leader at the time and to his satisfaction.

p.s

I don't think you want Sir Keir to 'condone' Mr Kinnock's actions.

Yes, you’ve obviously missed loads of threads indulging in whataboutery and drawing completely false equivalences.

Kinnock didn’t make the rules and then break them.
Kinnock didn’t think he had coronavirus.
Kinnock admitted his mistake and apologise.

The government didn’t bend the rules and compromise public health in order to protect Kinnock.

It’s really not even close to being the same.

The Cummings story is so huge because of the way Boris reacted, not because of the initial ‘crime’.

Hope that helps to clear things up for you. Just because a load of Russian backed bots on twitter tell you to believe something doesn’t make it true.

He said that? Ah, must be true then. The picture of the party in his parents garden that he posted was just a bonus, having dropped the supplies? I guess Rosie Duffield was dropping supplies too. Funny how my twitter feed isn't full of people condemning her huh?

Also odd how people are happy to take one persons word, but want a full and thorough investigation into another?

There's no getting around it, this is utter hypocrisy. As I said, they're all a bunch of charlatans. Not that I expect the blinkered followers to see that, regardless of which side they're on.

South Wales police Tweeted, but that doesn’t give any insight to where they drove from. I don’t think that was ever confirmed. If they drove from S Wales it was irresponsible and a breach, but we don’t know if he did.

Parliament broke on Thurs 26th March and his Mrs is CEO of London-based Save the Children. He has a home in Port Talbot, but they could well based in London during the working week (a check of his expenses would give some clues). He visited his parents on the Sat. This could easily have been at the end of the working week before returning home to S Wales, as permitted. (Might not have been the case too, point is we don’t know).

I can understand why people feel like idiots, having spent the last week in a frenzy and pointing fingers, to find out there's wrong doing in their own camp. It must be embarrassing for a lot of you, I get that. Neither party has come out of this with any credit.

Anyway, the sun is shining and we're all allowed out to spread the virus despite 300 people still dying daily. Well done Boris and his merry men.

They're all the same.

Enjoy your day.

Well he’s admitted to it, according to the party line on here. Or rather he’s actually attempted to justify it, which begs the question still how it’s any different to Cummings.

People are so pig ignorant, as evidenced quite brilliantly by Herbivore predictable reply that they can’t open their minds to it. It’s dangerous.
